Astrological Advice

Many of us have similar problems or issues we're dealing with in our lives, and often the answer to one person's question can give comfort to others. For this reason I've taken my popular AstroAdvice column to the web and publish the answers to your questions here and at Astrological Musings.

Unfortunately, time constraints prevent me from answering every question and there is currently at least a 3-month delay in responding. Consequently, I can only answer serious questions that will provide useful information to others who may find themselves in the same situation. Questions can be about work, relationships, or about how to best fulfill our destiny such as this one:

Q: I am finding myself more and more on a journey of discovery about the real nature of truth and reality as we know it. When I look at the way my country (South Africa) is doing and the hope it represents to the world, I wish there was something I could do to get our message of peace and hope and acceptance across to humanity and also to some of our own citizens! Will I ever be able to “change the world”?

I have to begin my answer with this quote:

None of us is powerful enough to change the world alone, but if we are focused in our intention we can make huge changes in ourselves which then ripple out to our family, our society, and eventually the world. And in aligning with others who share our views we can create a group intention that is so powerful that even bigger changes can be made.

Astrologically, your Sun is conjunct Mercury, both in Aquarius which is the sign that is primarily concerned with the collective rather than the individual. Your focus with Mercury also in Aquarius is on matters that bring equality and justice to the world. The Sun/Mercury conjunction is trined by Uranus which is the ruler of Aquarius, a "double whammy" that shows us that the Uranus/Aquarius influence is very important in your chart.

Aquarius actually has two rulers, Saturn and Uranus which is very significant because while Saturn is one of the so-called "personal" planets, having to do with individuation, Uranus is the first of the "transpersonal" planets. Aquarians are making the journey from the personal experience to the transpersonal, at varying levels of degree.

It appears that you have made the jump into the transpersonal but perhaps you now feel you are alone in your desire to transform the collective experience of your country. Once you set your intention to align yourself with others who share your goal of effecting lasting change, you will see how you can offer yourself to be used as a vehicle for the evolution of mankind. We must always supersede the need of our ego to be important in this process, because it's often the smallest influence that has the largest effect in the end.
