For a greater understanding of current planetary cycles, I suggest that you go back and re-read The Transformation of 2012 article from last yar.

The big news continues to be the challenging square aspect between Uranus and Pluto as this month marks the second exact alignment between the two since the cycle officially began in June. (Last year Uranus and Pluto came within a degree of the exact square which fostered the eruption of dissension around the world as individual rights (Uranus in Aries) began to rebel against the established order and power structures (Pluto in Capricorn). Between June and September, Uranus and Pluto were no more than a degree from the exact square aspect which is about as intense as you can get.

This square (90 degree) aspect between Uranus and Pluto is a huge cycle which will not be complete until the spring of 2015, and in our personal lives it is demanding that we pay close attention to the things in our life that are not fostering authenticity and integrity as they will soon fall away. This is the transformative power of Uranus and Pluto. For now though, the intensity of this alignment will build for the first three weeks of September until the exact square on the 19 th.

A harmonious alignment between Pluto (power and intensity) and Chiron (wounding and healing) will also culminate on September 6th which virtually ensures that in the midst of the intense buildup of powerful energy from Uranus and Pluto, we will find a way to release at least some of the old wounds and patterns (Chiron) that keep us from becoming our authentic selves.

Pluto is at its most intense right now because not only is it interacting with another outer planet and effecting powerful changes for humans, but it is also reversing direction as it turns direct and begins moving forward again after about six months of retrograde movement. When Pluto appears to move backwards from our perspective on earth, a phenomenon we call “retrograde,” our attention tends to be turned inwards and we look back at ways to repair the past. Pluto’s forward turn suggests that there will be more emphasis on the outer world and the transformation of the external structures that support us but for now it is at a standstill, beaming a laser of powerful intensity into our lives and making it nearly impossible to avoid confronting important truths.

Mercury opposes Neptune on the 1st and for a day or so communication may be a bit confused. Neptune can muddle the facts, but it also serves to inspire us to transcend the mundane and turn within where the real beauty lies.

Between the 3rd and the 5th a series of small inner planets energize and excite but may also create a bit of interpersonal strife. A challenging square from Venus to Saturn suggests that our obligations to others may stand in the way of personal satisfaction, and an opposition from Mercury to Chiron will make it difficult find mental balance if we avoid the emotional undercurrents. But interspersed with these two difficult alignments are harmonious aspects involving Mars to Pluto and Chiron which motivate and inspire us, and a trine from Mercury to Pluto which sharpens our focus and gives us great inner wisdom, even if just for a day or two.

The harmonious sextile between Pluto and Chiron culminates on September 6 th and casts a generally favorable light over the first week of September. This is a great time for participating in any kind of healing work, either giving or receiving, since Pluto enhances Chiron’s ability to get to the root of the matter and shift the energetic basis for health or spiritual dysfunction.

As Venus moves out from under the shadow of Saturn relationships will feel lighter and when Venus enters Leo on the 6th that lightness turns into a greater capacity for joy. For the next few weeks expect heightened creativity and a stronger need for individual expression in interpersonal relationships. Under the Leo influence we find that we need to bring more joy into our relationships, along with an open and generous heart.

Between the 7th and the 10th we are filled with confidence, but we may find ourselves taking on more than we can handle. The Sun is aligned with Mercury which helps to stimulate the mind, especially since both are in the sign of Virgo which is Mercury-ruled. This is a great time for writers and speakers since the mind is so active and communication is very important during this period. However, a challenging square to Jupiter suggests that our big goals and inflated ideas may not withstand the test of the real world. Finding a balance between great optimism and an awareness of what is actually possible will help us to emerge with Jupiterian gifts intact.

Venus aligns in a harmonious trine with Uranus on the 13 th, a beautiful day for meeting new people, finding new and wonderful attributes in the people we already know, and breathing new life into everything we do. It would be a shame to spend this day in the mundane world of chores and to do lists, but even if that’s necessary there are little nuggets of awakening available if we pay attention.

Ceres is an important factor at the Virgo New Moon on September 15th.since it aligns in a harmonious trine to Saturn as it conflicts in a square to Mercury. Ceres represents the nurturing of the body and our connection to our own bodies, and Virgo itself presides over the mundane details that we must attend to when we live in a human body. The food we eat, our personal hygiene, ordering the details of life – these are important qualities that Virgo manages and the inclusion of Ceres here makes this New Moon the perfect time to begin a project of self-care or making changes in the personal ecology of our lives to better support ourselves. Cleaning projects, new systems of managing our time and resources – all of these are highlighted under the Virgo New Moon.

The square between Uranus and Pluto is embedded into the New Moon chart which means that any endeavor begun now will have that transformational quality that Uranus and Pluto demand. It will be necessary to leave something behind and let go of outmoded realities and habits (Pluto) as we shift our energies into something new (Uranus).

Mercury enters Libra on the 16th where we desire harmony and cooperation. Compromise is normally hallmark of Mercury in Libra but as the intensity of the Uranus/Pluto square peaks on the 18th and 19th, Mercury becomes involved with a square to Pluto and opposition to Uranus. The faster-moving planets often serve as triggers for the larger planetary cycles, and the inclusion of Mercury into this alignment suggests that mental adjustments will be needed and that words will be the weapon of choice as the old faces off against the new. Under the Uranus/Pluto square, anything that is decaying and not serving the new energy will have to die off, and that is not always a comfortable process.

By the 20th a sextile from Venus to Jupiter will smooth over some of the rough edges as the intensity begins to unravel some.

The Fall Equinox occurs on September 22 nd when the Sun enters Libra. The charts for the solstices and equinoxes are often used as a predictive tool for the season, and the chart for the Fall Equinox is relatively harmonious. It does of course contain the nearly exact square between Uranus and Pluto which suggests that the Autumn season will include plenty of shifts and change as the Old falls away and is replaced by the New.

But we have a harmonious sextile from the Sagittarius Moon to Saturn, which suggests that an optimistic view (Sagittarius) will be supported by the realities of life (Saturn) which will help to keep us from becoming stuck. Venus harmonizes in a sextile to Jupiter which further enhances our confidence and offers the opportunity for material wealth and success.

However, Mars is in Scorpio where it demands power and vengeance, and it forms a challenging square to Venus in the Equinox chart. Both Mars and Venus are in fixed signs where compromise is rarely an option, so there is potential for conflict here that is not easily resolved. Ideally we will integrate these two by not denying the power of Mars and our individual desires and needs when we seek the love and beauty of Venusian experiences.

Ceres enters Cancer on the 26th, inspire us to nourish and nurture both ourselves and others. Mercury forms a harmonious trine to Jupiter that day which enhances our optimism and confidence and makes it easier to speak our truth for a day or two.

The square between Venus and Mars culminates on the 27th so be prepared to listen to what others have to say that day! The Sun will be moving into an opposition to Uranus that will be in effect between the 25th or so and the 29th when the aspect culminates – just in time for the Aries Full Moon.

This Full Moon is one of the most powerful events of the summer. As with all Full Moons, the Sun in Libra will be exactly opposite the Aries Moon, and Uranus will be tightly conjunct the Moon as it opposes the Sun. Pluto will be in a very tight square to the Full Moon as well as to Uranus, so the Full Moon is actually wrapped up into the intense dynamic of change from the Uranus/Pluto square.

The Aries Full Moon demands that we energize ourselves into action and face our fears directly rather than shrink into overly polite or cautious behavior. The addition of Uranus creates an urgency and a restless quality that demands change in any area of our life where we are not living authentically. Pluto challenges the whole system and will force a breakdown in any area that is not supporting the impetus for change. Living a lie? Swallowing your feelings? Hiding from your emotions? None of these things will be possible at this Full Moon.

This is the Full Moon of the warrior gods and goddesses. We are all called upon now to be our best selves – to rise to the challenge and be co-creators of the transformation.

A great way to end September, and a harbinger of what is to come.
