FORECASTING WITH TRANSITS AND PROGRESSIONS

  Astrology has traditionally been a method of forecasting the future, and in fact there are many astrologers still practicing today who take a fatalistic approach to the birthchart (i.e., Mars is square Uranus, you will have an accident). This approach assumes that we do not control our own destiny, but it is in fact mapped out for us and we are just motorists in a vehicle that is programmed for a certain destination. The more humanistic approach to astrology originated in the late 1960s and has continued to develop into a sophisticated psychological tool. This approach recognizes that although certain aspects of our physical being and personality are predestined, we are given the free will to make choices which will affect the outcomes of the crossroads of our life.

   "Transits and progressions" are terms for the study of the angles made by current planetary placements to the birthchart ("transits") and the evolving birthchart as it changes over time "progressions" to determine the cycles and growth that the individual is likely to experience in a given period. A forecasting reading using transits and progressions is typically done about once a year to evaluate these upcoming planetary influences. In this way periods of crisis can be managed by determining the influences that are operating and how best to navigate the rough waters.

RELATIONSHIPS

   Relationships are crucial to the development of the human spirit. In our path to develop our individual self we find ourselves in relationship with others and learning to find the balance between living as an individual and in partnership. Sometimes these relationships can seem quite difficult as we navigate that tender tightrope between the Self and the Other.

    The birthchart helps us to identify potential conflicts within ourselves that we may play out in the arena of our relationships. Often we attract partners to use that embody a part of ourselves that is not finding its full expression. Once we are able to identify the lost parts of our Self, we discover greater wholeness in our own life and are better able to experience greater joy in our relationshihps with others.

     Examples of inner conflicts that are found in many people affecting their relationships are: Connection vs. Autonomy, Safety/Security vs. Adventure, and Responsibility vs. Free Spirit.

     A relationship reading can be done for families, couples, or parents and children, and begins with an analysis of each chart individually to see where the potential issues and strengths can be found. We then look at the relationship each chart makes to the other, which shows us the issues and points of connection between the two individuals. We can identify potential difficulties and prescribe methods to work through these issues in a way that will maximize our own empowerment. A chart is then drawn for the couple or family, which identifies the nature of that relationship.

   Relationships go through changes, and a reading which analyzes the transits of the relationship and how that affects each partner can also be very useful in uncovering issues or patterns and means for effecting positive changes.

VISIONCRAFTING

   Our culture teaches us that there is not enough, and we grow up believing in the theory of scarcity. There isn't enough money to do what we want, all the other kids have these special sneakers and why can't I. As we grow up the scarcity expands to other areas: there aren't enough good jobs, there aren't enough good candidates for marriage. For psychological reasons, many of us believe that we are not good enough to break through the scarcity principle--"Who do you think you are?" we hear in our minds, echoes of earlier voices in our past. We feel guilty if we have more in our life than others, and we somehow feel if we have less we have not offended the gods. For some the idea that we create our reality and can create an abundant life is frightening and brings to the surface old fears and anxieties.

    Most of us want more prosperity. Studies have shown that most people believe that if they had twice as much money or income as they currently have it would be enough. But it is rarely enough - the person whose income was $1 million a year felt the same sense of lack as the person earning $15,000. Prosperity and wealth alone is not what fulfills us: it is the opening our heart and spirit to the abundance that is offered freely by the universe that fills our souls with a sense of comfort and joy. Then we are able to attract money, love, relationships, happiness, travel, success, and all that we wish for and be at peace as well.
