Aquarius new moon 2017The New Moon in Aquarius occurs on January 27th. Aquarius is the sign of social justice and rational thinking – it inspires us towards independence and innovation.  At the New Moon the Sun and Moon align to merge the conscious Self as represented by the Sun with the instinctive emotional patterns of the Moon.  This linking up of these two luminaries is the beginning of the lunar cycle – the Sun solarizes the Moon and infuses it with a new energy, symbolically offering us a new beginning ourselves. This is a time of new beginnings and a time when our new intentions can take hold, helping us to start anew.

Aquarius is an air sign – detached and concerned with matters of the intellect, Aquarius encourages us to see the world in a reasonable and rational way.  This perspective helps us towards a clearer vision of the world and a need for social justice and equality.  Aquarius is ruled by the planet Uranus – the lord of radical change and innovation, and an opposition (aspect of tension) between abundant Jupiter and Uranus is embedded in the chart and encourages greater expansion (Jupiter) of our ideals (Uranus) and new ways of looking at the world and new patterns of living.  A harmonious trine from Saturn (strong foundation) enables us to construct these new patterns in ways that will enhance our lives.

The airiness of the New Moon combines with the fact that four planets are in Pisces which is a very watery sign – this helps us to integrate the intellectual brilliance of the Aquarian influence with the sensitivity and imagination of Pisces.

Creativity abounds under this New Moon, but a challenging Venus aspect (Venus is sandwiched between Chiron and Mars) will put stress on our relationships and interactions with others.  Hurt feelings (Chiron) and disagreements (Mars) are likely if we turn our attention away from our own individual aspirations and endeavors, if only for a few days.

The Aquarius New Moon allows us to see our world through new eyes and breathe fresh life into all of our endeavors.  Enjoy!
