Mars in Cancer, July 13 – August 27, 2013 Tomorrow I will post on the Zimmerman verdict and what it means in the current planetary climate, but on Sundays I try to keep an inspirational focus rather than delve into politics and ugliness. Mars entered Cancer July 13, 2013 and tempers are likely to flare over the next few weeks. Mars is in Cancer every two years or s0, and because Mars is the planet of aggression and drive it is not very comfortable in the emotional sign of Cancer. When anger and emotional sensitivity combine there can be one of two results: at its best, we are more sensitive and nurturing of others (Cancer) in taking our own needs into consideration (Mars). But Mars is by its very nature a self-centered planet and this rarely occurs, so more often we become angry (Mars) at the need to watch out for the feelings of others (Cancer). Our emotions (Cancer) may become tinged with anger and frustration (Mars) if frustration is permitted to build up. While Mars is in Cancer, especially over the next two weeks (through the first week in August), it will be setting off the Uranus/Pluto square (see the sidebar for more information if this is new to you, or for a refresher). But first Mars aligns with Jupiter, expanding (Jupiter) the aggressive force (Mars) and adding confidence and self-righteousness (Jupiter) to our already touchy expression of needs and anger (Mars). This dynamic will peak on the 21st (and the Moon will be involved on that day too), so over the next week it will be important to get enough physical activity so that the energy of Mars, which is expanded now by Jupiter and and without an easy outlet in Cancer, can be channeled productively. During this time it is extremely important to be fully aware of the flow of emotions within us. This is made easier by the watery Grand Trine (see the link in the sidebar for more information) but is crucial to our successful management of the planetary intensity of the next two weeks. Mars is tied not only to the challenging Uranus/Pluto dynamic, but also to the harmonious watery Grand Trine so it is a crucial player in our inner and outer worlds right now. When we are unaware of how we feel and why we feel that way we become reactive to stimuli. With Mars in Cancer interacting with first Jupiter, then Uranus and Pluto, this reactivity will become more and more intense and we may find that we attract experiences in our outer world to reflect what we fail to see within. If we find ourselves feeling agitated or angry for apparently no reason, or if we find that others around us are expressing that anger for us, there is an emotional component within us that is demanding that we pay attention. The reactivity of Mars makes introspection more difficult, but spending some time deepening our connection to the feelings that flow through our heart right now will be extremely helpful in aiding us to gain the most from the planetary intensity of the next few weeks. Mars can be uncomfortable for those of us who seek peace – it is an easier planet for the more fiery types who are typically energized and active. Still, we can all benefit from Mars if we use its energy constructively – it inspires and motivates us through desire and activates us to pursue our dreams. For the next few weeks, however, it will take a little extra care to navigate successfully.

Thanks for this timely article. I’ve been feeling so damn angry just since yesterday. I’ve been unemployed since 2009 (less a 10 months stint as a temp) and I graduate this month, so I’ve started job hunting. I’m so damn sick and tired of being broke and struggling and not being able to get the things I want or even the things I need. I thought once you did the work you were supposed to get the reward and the longer this situation drags on the more aggravated I’m getting. I can’t help but feel like I despise God for giving me this life. Maybe this is part of my Neptune square Sun-trouble with the Father.
I happen to have natal Mars in Cancer already. Do you think this makes it more likely I can use the energy of this transit constructively?
Hi Pope. I have natal Mars in Cancer too…..in the 4th house, conj. Uranus in Cancer. I don’t buy the negative spin on it at all. And yes, when you have a “mars return” or mars returning to the point of your birth, you do feel a nice refreshing surge of energy. You always have the power of choice as to how to use the energy. Unenlightened, unconscious people can use any energy reactively and/or negatively. People that are not water signs always label water signs as “emotional” in the negative sense, but I’ve found that water energy is much more intuitive than other forms of energy, empathic, compassionate, humane and artistically attuned to music, color and the arts in general. Your choice on how to use this lovely, special energy!
We can all use this energy constructively, but for some it takes more attention. If your Mars is in Cancer natally then you have been working with these issues your whole life! So to the extent you have mastered them, this will come more easily. If you have been more reactive than constructive, this period will be more difficult. But that’s true for anyone, whether Mars is in Cancer or not.
I’ve really been enjoying your recent blog posts. They’ve been really helpful in figuring out what is going on for me right now!
Thanks Sarah! Glad you are finding them helpful.
Funny that the verdict for the Zimmerman trial was delivered the same day Mars entered Cancer…can’t wait to read your article on that one Lynn.
Jamine, the trial was dominated by Pisces (lies, Mercury and later Mercury retrograde) and Cancer (Sun, Jupiter) themes–an all female jury (five of them white( same clan (Cancer) as George) and the entire town was behind George (racist, clannish).
The fact is you don’t have the right to beat someone’s brains out over a difference of opinion or imagined slight. Look at Trayvon’s Facebook page-he was smoking pot, playing with guns, and flashing gang signs. He was never the ‘innocent child’ the media portrayed him as but a gangsta wannabe. It’s sad to see so many people fell for this. The police refused to charge Zimmerman because there was no evidence to. There’s a first grade rule that still applied-keep your hands to yourself. Your allegations below have nothing to do with the case. Trayvon is not a martyr but another sad victim of the black subculture’s gangsta glorification, work and school failure, and endemic fatherlessness.
@KaDThe fact is you don’t have the right to beat someone’s brains out over a difference of opinion or imagined slight
No one touched George Zimmerman. Trayvon had none of George’s DNA on his hands.
Furthermore George was perfectly fine after the encounter. He was so good that he told one of the witnesses to call his wife and he even made a phone call himself.
When the EMT’s asked if he wanted to go to the hospital he refused not once but three times on the premise that he didn’t have any insurance which was a lie. The EMT’s didn’t place as much as a band-aid on his head wounds and when he went to the PA the next day neither did the PA. The PA stated that the cuts had already begun healing.
As for Trayvon’s ‘background’ maybe we should talk about George’s background of violent and violations:
1) George’s female cousin claimed that George molested her for ten years
2) While working as a bouncer at illegal parties during the mid-2000’s George picked up a female patrol and threw her resulting in a broken ankle
3) One of George’s exes filed domestic abuse charges against him and he kicked her dog during an argument
4) George disconnected his mother’s electricity
5) George harassed a former coworker because he was Middle Eastern
6) George bragged about having someone take the responsibility for crimes he committed and expressed violence toward Mexicans because they are criminals
7) George assaulted an undercover police agent
But yeah go ahead and disparage a teenager based upon texts, tweets and other social media but ignore George’s documented history of violence and thuggery.
So the photos of Zimmerman with a bleeding head, battered, black and blue were-faked? The witness testimony was faked? Wow. Keep your head in there.
I’ve been thinking about Mars in Cancer means in relation to George Zimmerman.
Mars rules Aries (firearms and aggression) and co-rules Scorpio (revenge). Cancer rules the mother and the female family members.
I wonder if this speaking to the female cousin (who is related to him on his mother’s side) that George molested for ten years.
Last year she called in and told the authorities that she wasn’t afraid of him anymore because he had been arrested, but now that he’s been acquitted I wonder if she feels as if her physical safety had been threatened.
She was doxed by George’s supporters and every aspect of her life made public because their hero so maybe she wants some measure of revenge for George ruining her life twice.
I hadn’t heard this Roderick. That’s very interesting.
Lynn, I just read any article that stated that George molested a second female and that one may attempt to press charges against him.
The cousin is listed as Witness #9 in the document dumps.
Here’s a link to part of her statement which
