I love it when people say Mercury retrograde has no effect in the real world. Just yesterday I was on the phone trying to schedule an appointment to get my car serviced and the dealer’s computer went down. And then my postman went on a rampage about incorrect box numbers. And we were unable to get a payoff for a real estate closing which had to be delayed.
Elsewhere in the news:
- Facebook’s website went down on Thursday, creating panic for millions of addicted users.
- In New York City a power outage halted all subway trains and created delays for commuters.
- A Detroit airport lost power due to intense weather and all flights were interrupted creating massive delays.
- Cellphone carriers Verizon, Vodaphone and Optis experienced network issues, preventing calls by subscribers.
- A computer glitch in a Dallas jail mistakenly freed 25 prisoners.
- Target experienced nationwide cash register failures.
In other news Amazon, obviously lacking an astrologer on staff, released its new phone yesterday: the Amazon Fire. This is not generally something that is recommended during a Mercury retrograde period, so it will be interesting to see what comes of it!

Hi Lynn,
My digital camera stopped working yesterday, but thankfully I fixed it. The top of the case separated, so the zoom and shutter buttons didn’t work.
I am trying to find a new home to rent, and NOBODY is returning my emails. (I won’t move until Mercury is direct next month, of course.) :)
I’ve been doing lots of RE-organizing of my laptop folders, and my browser bookmarks, so this has been a productive retrograde so far. I’m also RE-vising my screenplays, although new ideas are tough to come by as Mercury is combust the Sun today and for several days to come.
Some of my friends are having horrible delays in travel, and banking nightmares, but this retrograde hasn’t been as bad for me as the last one. I was very sick throughout it.
Hope you don’t have too much trouble this month, Lynn. And thanks for your many good articles already in June.
Actually Greg I don’t really hold with the idea that combust periods are harmful – I have found them to be very fruitful. But I hope the rest of your month goes better and thanks for your good wishes. :)
I’ve been hit very hard by this Mercury Rx.
Tuesday I was attepting to scan some documents and the scanner didn’t recognize my card so I decided to use the other machine.
That one decided it wouldn’t recognize my card either–but it gave me a different error than the first.
But eventually I was able to scan the documents the next day.
Next I had an assignment which I thought was due July 18th ( it was actually due July 31). I had requested an extension through my supervisor except he is no longer my supervisor so I had to contact this person directly.
So for some reason my voice told me to ask someone about this person. I was told that the person I thought would be making the decision as to whether to grant me the extention was a tempoary employee and no longer worked for the agency.
, but the persons I needed to speak to happened to be in the office.
So I spoke to both of them and unfortunately neither of them had a clue, but they told me that they would ask someone the next day.
Well the next day came and went and yesterday morning I decided that I would send a request to this ‘new’ person directly.
After I sent the email I went to the restroom where I saw the person to whom I had sent the email.
Then my coworker showed up and told me that he had just received an email stating that I no longer needed to complete the assignment * cue Twilight Zone music*
When I got back to check my email I didn’t find that email, but I did find a different email restating that they no longer needed the requested report and if I hadn’t received the original email to contact the sender.
Well I checked my junk mail folder and didn’t find anything so I emailed her that I didn’t receive the original email.
Of course my coworker forwarded the email to me this morning and of course the original sender got my email incorrect.
How’s that for Mercury Rx? LOL
That is quite a story! This really has been a doozy of a time.
