Last year I had a very big birthday with a 7 in it, and ever since then I have been pondering my future. I had been wanting to update my VisionCrafting workbook for those of us in the third age of life, the time after the second Saturn return at around age 58 when we realize that time is passing quickly, and the more I worked on that update the more I realized that I myself need this work before I can pass anything along to others.
I’ve been writing regularly about astrological topics since 1991 when I was asked to write a horoscope column for a new monthly spiritual magazine called Connexions. Rather than write sun sign horoscopes I instead began writing about the astrological effect of planetary movements and called my column Skywatch. When I started my website in 2002 I began posting this column on the web (you can see an archive here – not much has changed in the past 20 years!). There turned out to be at least one other astrology column called Skywatch so I changed the name to Planetary Illuminations, which was really a more accurate name anyway.
Thirty years is a long time, and since then astrology has swept into the mainstream. You can now read about Mercury retrograde in every major magazine and news outlet, and details about the new and full moons are everywhere. A search for “full supermoon august 2023) generated 44.6 million results! it has become more and more difficult to find new and creative ways to write about frequently occurring astrological events.
I’m not going to give up on presenting this material altogether, but I do need a break to see where my heart is, and to become reinspired. I also just realized that I myself am unable to fully inhabit the process of aging into deeper spirituality if I am focused on “doing” – working the algorithms to get more views, tracking readership and hits, writing profiles before anyone else to get the Google juice.
So, dear friends, I am going to take a little break from regular astrological writing. This means no weekly forecast, and no monthly Planetary Illuminations. I may put up a profile now and then, and I will likely repost some favorite articles of the past. I will probably continue the Sunday posts although they may not come out every week. I’m not sure how long this break will be, but I’m certain I’ll be back in some form.
Meanwhile there are nearly 18 years of archives on my blog, and in that time I’ve covered pretty much everything. You can use the search box if you’re looking for something in particular, or my favorites are tagged here. 💖
Blessings on this overdue journey dear Lynn💐🤩
Hi Lynn,
Happy BIG Birthday! I hope this year is one of delight and good refinement.
Thank you for your years of writing here at this blog. Many blessings on any future projects.
Ohh Lynn! I will immensely miss your brilliant generous insightful gifts! I send blessings for deeper insights to what unfolds for you as you embark on this journey.
If your space can take reading books, I highly recommend “The Recognition Sutra” by Christopher D. Wallis.
He is a scholar & practitioner of Kashmir Shivaism. He writes in manner westerns mind can grasp in his translation of this huge precious ancient text.
My study about the elements in polarity therapy class ignited my curiosity & love for astrology- the elements are in all creation. I see a person and guess their sun sign by the elements of their body make up, mannerisms..I hit it 80-90%. How did you know? They ask…i tell them.. the elements in you speak:). I understand astrology it’s not the answer to the deepest questions of life, but I see it as most fascinating tool/pointer to possibilities of what can unfold for everything as weather conditions or movements of the earth crest… and us humans life. It assists navigation of one’s life unfoldment. It’s beautiful most fascinating tool! So thank you very much for all these years of giving your knowledge, wisdom & insights. May your gifts to the community returns to serve you many folds.
Your long time follower!
Shanti
I just wanted to say thank you for your insight and knowledge of astrology. I just recently became aware of your website and have thoroughly enjoyed it. I had studied astrology when I was in my 20’s and 30’s (I am now 70) so I have some background and understand the basics. Your approach and views (looking at the positive) are similar to my own. I have particularly enjoyed your Sunday inspirations and have recited some of the poems at a Church I participate in.
May this new adventure in your life be filled with unexpected blessings.
Enjoy “you” time and thank you for your generosity in sharing your vast knowledge! Blessings.
As always, a GREAT BIG THANK YOU!!! Best wishes . . . until next time <3
