Once every month or so, we are given an opportunity to be reborn into a new zodiacal archetype when the Sun and Moon unite at the New Moon. Each sign unfolds into the next as we move through the twelve archetypes of human existence, and we are given another opportunity to wipe the slate clean and begin anew, to create intention and to begin a cycle of growth.
This month the wheel has spun us into the Libra New Moon, which is also a Supermoon (™ Richard Nolle). A Supermoon is at its closest point to Earth, and its energies are felt more intensely by us humans! Supermoons are more visible when they are full as they appear large and glorious in the sky, but the Super New Moons are just as powerful.
Following the entry of the Sun into Libra at the Equinox, the Moon joins not only the Sun but also Mercury and Venus already in Libra. As we move from Virgo into Libra, we transition from the critical thinking of Virgo into a more tactical and tactful way of looking at the world (Libra). Libra is represented by the scales of balance that requires an equal and opposite reaction to every action. The act of bringing disharmonious energies into harmony is the lesson of Libra.
Libra is ruled by the planet Venus – the planet of love, beauty and attraction. With Venus in ascendance, matters of relationships and anything which brings aesthetic harmony into our lives will be highlighted. But this New Moon is challenged by an opposition from Chiron, the planet of healing and wounding. Under the influence of Chiron, the faultline that runs through our efforts to ignore our own inner disharmony may emerge so that we may face our own grief and sadness directly and find true healing and a renewed resonance into the world of light.
In the chart of this New Moon we also find a direct challenge to Venus from both Saturn and Pluto. Saturn demands that we face our responsibilities to our loved ones and also sets limits on the emotional satisfaction we can glean from others. Pluto intensifies our relationships as well as our feelings and our thoughts as it challenges not only Venus (relationships) but also Mercury (thoughts and communication). This is not a typical Libra New Moon filled with love, beauty and butterflies – there is real intensity at work and an underlying thread of personal empowerment that results when we face up to difficult truths.
Fortunately, Jupiter (abundance and confidence) harmonizes with Venus in this New Moon chart to support us by reminding us that anything is possible, and that opportunities can be found everywhere we look.
As the light of this New Moon emerges into the sky of consciousness, we have the opportunity to create a new beginning. Here are some things to consider when creating your intention for this Libra New Moon:
- Do I feel content and at peace, and energized by enthusiasm with each new day? And if not, where am I out of balance?
- Are my relationships satisfying and fulfilling? Am I giving too much, or getting too little? Or am I overwhelmed with the needs of others to the point where I feel exhausted?
- Am I taking the time to allow the beauty of the world around me settle into the crevices of my psyche so that I may feel in harmony with my surroundings?
- Do I listen to the language of the heart as much as I do the language of the head?
- Am I allowing the wounds from the past to keep me from opening up my heart to love?
This New Moon has the power to heal the past and help us to blossom beautifully into the future. As the light of the Moon grows throughout the month, so may our hearts open to the magic of love and the beauty that is all around us.
Right on!!! Thank you for your work!
