This Solar Eclipse at the Gemini New Moon marks a brand new beginning and a fresh start. New Moons mark the beginning of the lunar cycle, and a New Moon at the first degree of a sign carries its own signature of a new beginning. Gemini is the sign of awakening the mind: the mental curiosity that takes us into new experiences and new ways of looking at the world.
This New Moon is an eclipse because it occurs near the Nodes of the Moon – in this case it aligns in a tight conjunction with the South Node which represents our past history and karmic ties. The Lunar Nodes give eclipses greater significance since we are confronting and clearing energies that continue to lurk from the past. While we are fostering this new beginning and creating new ideas for the future, something or someone from the past will require our attention. We can’t move forward without integrating these lessons.
Mercury, Gemini’s ruler, is conjunct Jupiter at the New Moon which enhances the mind and facilitates understanding. However, Neptune squares the lunation and the South Node which brings an element of mystery and confusion into the mix. The Gemini New Moon wants to be free like a bird to fly above the earth and collect new viewpoints, but Neptune challenges us to surrender our ideas of the way the world works and instead learn to trust our intuitive inner voice. This can create some confusion if we are unused to living a life simultaneously in our inner and outer worlds but it is exactly this experience that leads us to a deeper wisdom.
We have more Geminian energy with the retrograde turn of Venus a few days ago, and the upcoming Transit of Venus across the Sun. Venus retrograde asks us to look back and reassess what it is that we value and how those aspects of our life support us and the world around us. Gemini seeks understanding without judgment – it is a learning without discrimination or attachment. Each idea and suggestion has its own value and adds to the richly colored tapestry of life.
The challenging square from Uranus (radical revolution) to Pluto (death and regeneration) continues to oversee every smaller planetary cycle. This is not a time to hold onto the past or fear the future, because the past is crumbling away under our feet. The Gemini New Moon grants us an opportunity to gain understanding through the mental realm that can help to support us as we move into this brave new world.
Thank you so much- better understanding of so many internal changes!
I am going through a very challenging time. I have Pluto in the 7th house, Saturn in the 5th house, while Uranus is conjuncting my moon for the past year and suppose to go on for another year. I was evicted from the last place I live and now I am facing it again, I have no place where I will be able to move to and still not working, so I am very frustrated in my life. I had a very quick and intense relationship that started during the Venus retrograde in March and ended just a month ago. I thought these transits would bring a much more stable time in life since they are relationship transits. Instead, I feel very unstable, confused, and emotionally drained.
Uranus conjunct the Moon is rarely a stabilizing time, and it often brings changes in the area of our security needs such as our home. Events in our life that result from planetary cycles always point out where our lives need improvement and the things that aren’t working in our lives. Lena if you post your birth data here in the comments or on Facebook where others can learn as well I’ll take a look at your chart and see what’s happening.
Lynn,
Thank you so much for responding back to me. My birthday is March 7, 1962, born 12:03 PM., Islip, New York
Any hope and insight would be greatly appreciated. I have had my chart done before but unfortunately everything the person told me never came to pass.
Thanks
Lena
Uranus is conjunct my moon on the exact degree in my birthchart! And in emotionally unpredictable scorpio. Yes, stabilization is a word I don’t think I have ever experienced in my life. change, change, change, change, and more change…. Lena- you only have to go through a transit of it, imagine a lifetime :)
I have moved probably 50 times in my life: sometimes out of the country, sometimes following love, or just out of boredom, a few times to live in the woods for extended periods of time camping out. It seems Uranus when it conjuncts the moon wants us to wear our homes on our backs, be simple, and also be comfortable in letting go of all security. Sometimes, at a moments notice because the change it forces is SO sudden. Having lots of material “stuff” just gets in the way of this transit- its’ time to get rid of all the useless sentimental things and pare down to life essentials. I am actually an incredibly adaptable person and am thankful for this astrological placement as it has made life quite interesting and full of amazingly deep experiences. But I have learned to ‘let go’ on a daily basis in order to ‘flow’ with this energy. I hope that my experience with this proves helpful. PAZ Y AMOR
wow, I cannot imagine having that transit for that amount of time. I am the type of person who likes stability in my life and for the past few years it has been nothing but instability . I really wouldn’t care that much but having to raise 2 kids while going through has worn me down. I have had jobs off and on for the past few years, which has also added to the insecurity. I met a man in March and within 2 weeks he was asking me to marry him. By the way, I am going through a relationship transit, Pluto in the 7 th and Saturn in the 5th., but unfortunately, he was not the partner that I have been looking for. We broke up a few weeks ago and tonight he contacted me and I did not answer the phone. I realize there is an eclipse and Venus is retrograde, which brings past loves into our lives again.
Sequoia, thank you for this lovely explanation of Uranus on the Moon!
Astrology can very rarely be used to predict the future because we don’t realize how much we control and affect our own destinies.
Lena, you are obviously in a challenging time right now. Pluto is not only in your seventh house but it’s transiting back and forth across your ascendant, and Uranus will be there too next year. This transit will completely transform your idea of who you have to be in all of your relationships. With the Sun and Venus both in Pisces and Cancer rising, your emotional sensitivity can make it difficult for you to stand up for yourself. Especially because Mars conjoins Chiron in your chart, showing that there is a wound to your ability to speak up and defend yourself. But with your Moon in Aries you absolutely must do that, and you are being challenged to do so right now.
As I said in the other comment, transits of Uranus and Pluto to the Moon can destabilize us and often result in a physical move of one kind or another.
You’re also in your Chiron return, and because Chiron opposes Pluto in your chart this transit is excavating a lot of old anxieties, fears and wounded places so that they can be digested, processed, and released. This stuff is all hard, but it can be very rewarding in the end.
Regardless of planetary transits we still must take care of our lives – working, paying the rent etc. The planets don’t give us guidance in that regard, we have to do these things ourselves.
Thank you, Lynn, for all that information. I was told I was in a marriage/committed relationship transit with Pluto in the 7th house and Saturn in the 5th house. Actually I did meet someone in March and he asked me to marry him after 2 weeks, but I said no because I didn’t feel like we knew each other well enough. He is a cancer and seemed too anxious for a commitment, which frightened me. Then a month later, we started having problems and eventually broke up. Although a few days ago, he called me and I have not spoken to him yet. But, I am not surprised since we are in a venus retrograde period that communication is starting again. I don’t think I will make any decisions with him for awhile, especially since my life is so chaotic and I am not really sure if he is not with someone else.
Lynn,
I was told that there was a new partner coming into my life since I have pluto in the 7th and saturn in the 5th. I did date someone and he asked me to marry him, but I ddin’t feel we knew each other well enough. That was a few months ago and we have since broken up, but he called me a few days ago and seemed like he wanted to get back together. I am not sure if this is the man I am suppose to marry. His birthday is 7/6/55, born in Hartford, CT, unknown on time.
I am 3/76/2, born 12:03 PM, Islip, NY. do you see this man as my husband according to our charts?
Lena, there is no way to accurately predict from the charts whether two people will marry. Sorry!
I am hoping for good news on the job front next week or two. My focus is on staying in the present moment where for the vast majority of them in this lifetime I have been just fine. My fears are all about the imaginary future so I try to pull my mind back from there and just do the required footwork in the present moment. Living simultaneously in inner and outer worlds, noisy left brain and wordless right brain, in my opposites, light and shadow aspects takes a lot of self-acceptance and self-love and trust that all will be well.
Trust that the Universe is moving us forward towards balance is also important!
