Autumn Equinox

Astrological news this week: Autumn equinox brings a turning point, and a New Moon

Astrological update for the week of September 19-26, 2022

September is one of those months when the Sun moves into a cardinal sign and marks the beginning of a new season. Here in the northern hemisphere we are moving into fall, and my friends Down Under are transitioning to Spring. Either way, there is a whiff of change in the air.

Fall Equinox September 22, 9:03 pm. This month the Equinox marks the point of equality between darkness and light as we move from the mutability of Virgo into the cardinal point of Libra. Each of the cardinal signs marks a solstice or equinox, the turning points in the wheel of the year and the budding of promise as we enter a new season. In the Aries season at the March equinox we are more focused on initiating something new and adventurous, but here in Libra season in September we begin to integrate into our surroundings and learn to find greater balance and harmony. In the spring we plant the harvest, and in the fall we share it.

The astrological chart for the Equinoxes and Solstices are sometimes used to predict the energies of the coming season, and this Equinox chart is an interesting one. The Equinox Sun exactly conjoins Mercury, suggesting that there will be some fast moving events to shift us into the next phase. Jupiter is involved in this dynamic too, expanding the possibilities and opening doorways to new experiences.

The Equinox chart for Washington D.C. has Pluto tightly conjunct the Midheaven, the place of government and rulership, which does not seem ideal for a pre-election season in a nation that is torn by political strife. But that is nothing […]

Astrological update for the week of September 20, 2021: Full Moon, Equinox portal!

art by Lisa Hunt

There’s a lot of astrological juice in the skies this week, which means quite a few potent energies swirling around to affect us in a variety of ways. Emotions could be extreme under the Full Moon, and the portal point of the September Equinox will open up doorways of change.  Be ready!  We are heading into Deep Retrograde season with Mercury’s retrograde turn next week, and some potent challenges from Mars which will keep things lively.  😃

Monday September 20.   The Pisces Full Moon culminates on Monday just before midnight EDT/Tuesday 4 am UTC, and is packed with generally positive forces for awakening and illumination. (You can read all the details of the Full Moon here.)  The Moon conjoins Neptune before noon on Monday EDT/4 pm UTC, paving the way for the Piscean burst of spectral magic which can cause a lack of clarity as we make our way through the mundane details of our daily life to reawaken the spark of divine inspiration.

A harmonious trine from Mercury to Jupiter, Pisces’ modern ruler, culminates at 10:52 pm EDT just before the Full Moon.  This is a beautiful gift of hope and optimism to pave the way for the Full Moon shower of grace.

Tuesday September 21.  The Moon enters Aries just after 3 am EDT/7 am UTC and begins to translate a challenging opposition between Mars and Chiron that is just beginning to form.  Mars is in Libra where we can find it difficult to express ourselves clearly, and Chiron is in Aries and has been since 2018 – calling out areas of our self-expression which have been wounded and […]

The meaning of the pre-Equinox Pisces Full Moon

artist unknown

by Lynn Hayes.  At the Pisces Full Moon the Pisces Moon is opposite the Virgo Sun, requiring us to bring into balance the polarity of these  two opposing astrological signs. Pisces, as Virgo’s opposite, lives in the realm of Spirit and ideals rather than the mundane. Where Virgo is concerned with worldly matters required by humans who live in a physical world, Pisces opens the door to the realms that lie within and beyond the soul and psyche. Where Virgo is practical and teaches us to create order, Pisces longs to transcend reality and ascend into more soulful experiences. Neither is better than the other – the mysticism of Pisces can bring delusion and illusion, and the organization skill of Virgo can lead to a limited perspective where the view of the trees obscures our ability to see the forest.

Under any opposition we must learn to create balance and integration between the polarity of two opposing signs, and this is also true at the Full Moon.  The Pisces Full Moon is all about connecting to Spirit, to the Divine within us, to our imagination and a sense of magic.  However, when the Moon is full in Pisces it opposes the Sun in practical Virgo so there is a necessity to balance that dreaminess with a firm footing in the material world.

The Full Moon is the peak of the waxing phase of the lunar cycle and begins the waning phase of completion, so this is a time of culmination of the dreams and ideals (Pisces) so that we can harvest the seeds that we have sown. Mercury, ruler of the Virgo Sun, is stationary in […]

Weekly astrological forecast for September 21, 2020 including the Equinox and Saturn turning direct

In this week’s video I review the meaning of the Sun entering Libra at the September equinox and the turning of the seasons.  Also, Saturn is stationary in the sky right now and I thought he deserved some special time since his influence is important with all of the Capricorn energies happening at the moment.  And of course I’ll review the astrological influences of the week ahead to help with your planning.  Transcription can be found at the end, but as always I encourage you to watch the video.  It helps me and my channel, of course, but you’ll also find charts and visual aids in the video which will help to tie everything together and make more sense.

Hey everybody, welcome back to my channel. I hope you’ve had a great week. If you’re new here, my name is Lynn Hayes. And every week I post a video about the astrological influences for the week, and how you can get the most out of them. So without further ado, let’s get started.

The first thing I’d like to talk about is the planet Saturn. This summer we have had a large number of planets traveling retrograde. Now planets don’t actually travel retrograde, but sometimes they appear to travel backwards, and we call that retrograde. And this summer we have had between five and seven planets retrograde, which is a very large number. When we have that many planets retrograde there’s a tendency for the energies to kind of stall. We’re having to keep going back and look backwards behind us. You know, what did we do? Why did […]

Happy Equinox 2009!

Before I complete the post on Carl Jung’s Red Book, which I promise I will post either tonight or tomorrow morning, I want to wish everyone a happy Autumn Equinox.

The equinoxes take place when the days and nights are of equal lengths.  This marks the end of summer, when the days are longer, and the beginning of autumn which takes us into the darker season.  The astrological charts for the turning of the seasons, which are marked by the entry (ingress) of the Sun into 0 degrees of the cardinal signs in the tropical zodiac, often serve as a predictor for the season to come.

The chart for this year’s Autumn Equinox and Libra Ingress chart reveals an exact square between the 0 degree Libra Sun and Pluto at 0 degrees.  This is a fairly intense aspect for an equinox chart, and suggests a high level of continuing change and transformation as structures (Capricorn) that no longer work are destroyed in order to clear the decks for something more real to occur.

We also have the Scorpio Moon forming a square (challenging aspect) to the Triple Conjunction of Jupiter, Chiron and Neptune in the cha
