The astrology of the US addiction to guns, 2017 edition

Astrology of guns USAMuch of this article is reposted from a post from 2013.  Since then we have had the worst mass shootings in US history:

  • Las Vegas, Oct 2017: 58 dead
  • Orlando, June 2016: 49 dead
  • Virginia Tech, Apr 2007: 32 dead
  • Sandy Hook, Dec 2012: 27 dead
  • Texas church, Nov 2017: 26 dead

Everywhere you turn these days the discussion is about guns.

Guns are not a new topic for discussion, but the feverish frenzy over which gun rights advocates are protecting their rights to own assault weapons and other types of weapons meant for mass killings is rather recent.

There is no nation like the United States in terms of gun ownership.  The (Sibly) chart of the United States has Sagittarius rising, which echoes the expansive philosophies that have always drove the country towards constant expansion and religious ideals, both Sagittarian concepts.  We normally would look towards Mars for signs of warfare like behavior, but in the US chart the passion for guns is found in the placement of Pluto in the second house.  This fanatacisim about guns originates not in an aggressive desire to assert force (Mars) but in a hunger for freedom (Sagittarius ascendant) and a relentless (Pluto) drive to accumulate masses of money through manipulation of the nation’s ideals (second house).

American gun lovers don’t want to accumulate stockpiles of weapons to kill their neighbors.  They want these weapons because they believe that it will protect that Sagittarius rising freedom.  It doesn’t hurt that Uranus (planet of liberation from oppression) conjoins both Venus (partners) and Mars (aggression) in the chart.  That Uranus/Mars conjunction especially denotes a radical desire for liberty at all costs.  Americans own twice as many guns as any other country, per capita.

That’s […]

The astrology of the Las Vegas shooter

Las Vegas shooter astrologyAfter the worst mass shooting in modern US history (we can save the massacre of the native Americans for another discussion but let’s not forget it entirely), and that is really saying something since we have had more than 1,500 shootings since the Sandy Hook shooting in December 2012, there appears to be nearly no information about the shooter, now deceased, who masterminded the plot to kill as many people as possible from the 32nd floor of a Las Vegas hotel.  With the recent news that Stephen Paddock was prescribed Valium, some are speculating that it was the Valium that motivated this quiet man to this horrific act.  But one look at his astrological birthchart and you can see that this was a very complicated man.

Paddock’s astrological Sun was in the sign of Aries, the sign of the Warrior, but it was part of a very challenging Grand Cross.  There was a part of him that craved connection with others and wanted to get along (Sun conjunct Venus)  but he had trouble establishing those connections (Venus retrograde) and was shy and insecure, especially where women were concerned (Venus opposed by Saturn).  He was very hard on himself and felt he had a great deal to prove (Saturn retrograde and opposite Sun) and he often felt misunderstood by others (Neptune opposite Sun).

A challenging relationship with his father is evident by the stressful aspects from three intense planets to his Sun – the father often appears in the chart as the Sun.  He was likely criticized and failed to meet his father’s approval (Saturn retrograde opposite his Sun) and there is evidence of the chart of a separation from […]

Gun-nuttery and revolution with Uranus in Aries

Guns astrologyMore than any other sign, Aries is associated with warfare.  Ruled by the planet Mars (Mars is the Roman name for the god of war – Ares was his Greek counterpart, Aries is assertive, energetic, and generally doesn’t like to back down from a fight.  Uranus is the planet of rebellion, independence, freedom and liberation.  It’s not a surprise then that the passage of Uranus in Aries (since 2010) has brought with it a huge wave of rebellion against gun laws among gun aficionados in the United States.

As soon as Uranus moved into Aries in 2010 there was an eruption of “open carry” demonstrations throughout the US by gun rights supporters who believe that carrying guns openly is a good idea.

I predicted this before Uranus entered Aries:

It could be said that a keyword phrase for Uranus is:  “Rules?  We don’t need no stinkin’ rules.”  Uranus is all about breaking the rules – fighting for independence, the right to make one’s own decisions and not be hampered by any external force.  Aries is the sign that is ruled by Mars, the god of war.  Mars rules over guns and all other forms of weaponry and other supplies needed for warfare.  So we can just imagine that when Uranus enters Aries in May, the battle over gun control will begin to seem very important.

Under Uranus in Aries, gun rights have become synonymous with freedom, such as this article proclaims:

Chairman Mao said, “Power comes from the barrel of a gun,” which is a truism. Power is freedom or freedom is power – also a trusim. Therefore freedom comes from the barrel of a gun.

Other countries are not seeing the same kind […]

Guns, Guns, Guns, in the USA

That’s where Pluto in the second house enters the picture, in the form of the National Rifle Association.  The NRA spent $15 million in the 2012 presidential campaign, using a fearmongering campaign promoting the idea that Obama planned to take away gun rights (he wasn’t).  This same organization used the school shooting in Newtown […]

The astrology of the Newtown shooter

Photo from the Telegraph

On December 14th  a 20 year old man went on a killing spree, murdering his mother and perhaps as many as 28 others, including 20 children at the elementary school where his mother taught.  Adam Lanza, the shooter, was described as intelligent but socially awkward, a kid who didn’t fit in.

John Townley has posted the charts of Adam Lanza along with a brief analysis of the event.  One thing I noticed right away about Lanza’s chart was the exact conjunction of Uranus and Neptune.  The Uranus/Neptune conjunction in the early 1990s was a hugely significant planetary event that opened up portals o
