Weekend update May 15 2021: Lunar sensitivity with a touch of Mars

The planets are quiet this weekend, without any exact alignments to cause disruption. (Please note that if you are in a planetary cycle that affects your own individual chart that will supersede any of these daily posts.). The Taurus Sun is approaching a harmonious trine to Pluto which will culminate on Monday – Pluto of course represents the power of creation and the destruction which sometimes precedes it, and a harmonious link from the Sun casts a bright light of potent energies to facilitate any kind of major transition, or simply just to help us to feel more positive.

Meanwhile on Saturday there is an awkward  (150 degrees) from Mars to Saturn.  The quincunx creates tension from which there is no resolution, unlike the square which creates conflict and eventual resolution of an issue.  Mars seeks action and conclusion, but Saturn makes that impossible.  Saturday is not a good day to attempt a difficult conversation, and you may find your physical energy impacted by this dynamic for a day or two.

The Moon enters Cancer late Saturday EDT/early Sunday GMT and emotional sensitivity becomes more pronounced.  The Mars aspect will begin to wane on Sunday and there are no other major planetary forces at work so Sunday is a good day to turn within where the Moon lives, and reconnect with our feeling nature and the very nature of who we are. ❤️

Planetary news this week! Sagittarius New Moon, Venus in Capricorn and Neptune Direct

Deviant Art

The Sagittarius New Moon occurs on November 26th marking the beginning of Sagittarius season.  Sagittarius times tend to be more lighthearted and hopeful than periods dominated by, say, Scorpio, which we have been going through over the past few weeks.  Two planets still linger in Scorpio, but the New Moon in Sagittarius offers an illumination into the ideal of hope and a belief that we can indeed find meaning in our lives that brings a sense of peace and fulfillment.

This New Moon is harmonized by a trine from Chiron, which helps to soften the rough edges and facilitate the healing of any old wounds that linger in the psyche.  However, an awkward inconjunct* from the New Moon to Uranus suggests that there is a pressure to break away from old patterns and begin something new, although we may not yet be aware of what that ought to be.  Often the 30 degree and 150 degree angles plant seeds of irritation and restlessness that are fulfilled when a stronger planetary cycle comes along.

The energies of the New Moon begin a few days away from the actual alignment, so we are in the shadow already of this New Moon.  This is the perfect time to seek an adventure, either in the mind or an actual adventure in the physical world.  Under the influence of the Sagittarius New Moon we are encouraged to open up to ever greater possibilities and never to settle for a limited or safe alternative.

Venus enters Capricorn on November 25th, and for a few weeks our relationships with others taken on a more sober flavor.  After a few weeks in Sagittarius, Venus is now focused more on Doing the Right […]

Fall into the drama of the Equinox Aries Full Moon, September 24th

Aries New MoonAries is the first sign of the zodiac – the sign of action, initiation, adventure, independence and courage.  Ruled by Mars, Aries has an aggressive force but it is a force for self-expression and self-awareness.  When the Moon is in Aries, we find ourselves willing to face our fears and inspired to break through the barriers that keep us from blazing the trail of our highest desires.

As in every Full Moon, this Aries Full Moon is opposite the Libra Sun, setting the Aries focus of initiating something new to satisfy ourselves against the Libran need to placate and please in order to achieve balance and harmony.  When the Moon is full, the lunar light (in this case Aries) obscures the light of the sun (in this case Libra), strengthening the Aries force to assert our personal will into the world.  This Full Moon is just one degree away from the equinox point which intensifies its power, but also amplifies the potential of our dreams, intentions and desires to create real magic.

This is a highly dynamic Full Moon as it is chock full of planetary aspects.  In this case Chiron’s wounding and healing energies are strongly connected to the Sun and the Moon so we are likely to experience an eruption of old emotional hurts and the clearing out of psychic debris.  Saturn (tests and challenges) forces us to face realities that may or may not be pleasant but must be dealt with.  Uranus (radical change) applies the pressure of dissatisfaction to keep us from becoming too comfortable.  Mercury (mind and communication) is scrambled by the emotionality of the Moon and overwhelmed by the light of the Sun, making rational thinking more difficult.

With this much planetary juju, […]

The astrology of the “Full Flower Moon” in Sagittarius, May 29 2018

full flower moon may 2018This month’s Sagittarius Full Moon asks that we dig deep into our hearts to find our adventurous spirit.   Called the “Flower Moon” because in the northern hemisphere, where these names originated, May is the month where flowers reach their maximum bloom, this May Full Moon inspires us to reach beyond the stars into the great unknown to find our place there.

Zodiacal polarities are opposites, with each sign having something that the other lacks.  Gemini wants to take in every single bit of information without discrimination, just for the sake of learning and gaining experience.  Sagittarius, on the other hand, is imbued with a never ending desire to continually expand one’s knowledge and awareness of the outer world.  As polarities go, the Gemini/Sagittarius polarity is about the most harmonious – both signs seek understanding, but in different ways.

I love the image of the “Flower Moon” for the Sagittarius Full Moon – the flowering of wisdom and innate understanding; expanding our goals and dreams beyond what we thought was possible, the never ending search for meaning and truth.  At the full moon our the power of the heart reaches a peak and our subconscious awareness becomes richer and more easily accessible to the conscious mind.

The astrological dynamics of this Sagittarius Full Moon are heavily weighted towards the earth and water elements.  Earth and water are the “yin” elements, motivating security and emotions but not necessarily the action and expansion that the fire of Sagittarius craves.  However, the Full Moon Ruler (Jupiter) is tied into a lovely Grand Trine in water signs (Venus in Cancer, Jupiter in Scorpio and Neptune in Pisces) which aids in the process of expansion on an emotional level.  When we are […]
