Jupiter conjunct Chiron

Planetary news this week: Transformation continues and then a new beginning

Astrological update for the week of March 13-20, 2023

The Jupiter/Chiron conjunction. The transformational alignment between Jupiter and Chiron which I wrote about last week has just culminated, but the effect will linger throughout the remainder of the month. quoting from last week’s post: The alignment of Jupiter’s optimism and expansive qualities with Chiron’s inspiration to heal and explore the body’s awareness is a powerful crucible for physical, emotional and mental healing. The type of healing which Chiron presides over is not the fairy godmother type of healing in which a magic wand produces an immediate result. Chiron urges us to release the toxic energy of old wounded feelings and resentments so that we can be freed and this toxicity can be replaced with a higher form of body mind spirit wisdom.

The combination of these two planets for accelerating healing and personal transformation occurs in the sign of Aries, sign of self-initiation and activation. This will become more important later in the week as we approach the Aries New Moon, since there is likely to be a sudden realization of our own needs and drives that may be somewhat surprising because of the Neptunian fog. The sign of Aries is itself the beginning of manifestation in the world – the point of initiation and assertive dynamic experiences that push us into the world itself.  Any New Moon marks a new beginning – the beginning of a new lunar cycle that wipes the slate clean and provides an opportunity to create something new in our lives.  Any Aries New Moon adds another layer of excitement and Marsy energy to stoke the fires and energize that creation.

Neptunian fog. This occurs at a very Neptunian time (astrologese for periods of […]

Planetary news this week: Virgo Full Moon, and Saturn in Pisces

Astrological update for the week of March 6-13, 2023.

art by Verena Wild

Full Moon in Virgo March 7th. The Virgo Full Moon on Tuesday (EST) occurs with Saturn at the 29th degree of Aquarius, just about to spill into Pisces. The Virgo Moon is the only personal planet in an Earth sign, and with three planetary bodies in the mystical watery sign of Pisces it may be difficult to ground into the practical realm of life for the next few days. If that occurs, the best thing to do is to go with the flow.

The Pisces influence is wonderful for anything creative or magical, but with the Moon full in Virgo there is a strong emphasis on ritual and routine. Mars in Gemini is in a strong square to the Sun and Moon this week which suggests that we will likely find ourselves somewhat scattered under these energies, so this Full Moon will be better for planning and imagining than actually implementing something which requires a disciplined approach.

Saturn at the true cusp of Aquarius and Pisces is intensely idealistic – Aquarian idealism is intellectual and Piscean idealism is emotional – combining the two offers up a banquet of visionary longing for a world that offers greater perfection than the one we actually live in. The Virgo Moon resists this broadening of the scope of our experience and prefers to be grounded in the mundane details of life in physical form. It anchors us into a heart of practical reality where we are able to make the small changes that can ultimately result in the satisfaction of the larger Aquarius/Pisces vision. In any case, this lunation will impel us to seek more from our […]

April’s Libra Full SuperMoon may rattle our equilibrium

artist: Holga Jen

A Full Moon of any kind amps up the lunar energies that stimulate instinctive behavior and connect us more deeply to the realm of emotions and feelings.  A SuperMoon (® Richard Nolle), so called because the Moon is at its closest point (perigee) to the Earth,  amplifies these instinctive connections even more.  Space.com reports that this Full Moon will be the biggest one of the year

Under the influence of Libra we crave balance and equanimity.  Libra is known for being the sign of love and beauty, but these are just the byproducts of the need to achieve a sense of inner harmony.  Love provides comfort and connection with others to find this balance, and beauty helps to soothe jangled nerves.  Under the Full Moon in Libra, with the Sun in Aries,  we are working with the polarity of Self (Aries) vs Connection to others (Libra) and seeking that inner equilibrium that comes when we are in balance between these two opposite forces.  Full Moons always require an integration of opposites, but with the Libra Full Moon,  even more so.

While we strive to find our inner balance point under the Libra Full Moon Mars, planet of aggression and the ruler of Libra’s opposite sign Aries, is locked in a conflicting square to Uranus, planet of radical and rebellious behavior.  This is not a calm or soothing influence – in fact, under this Mars/Uranus combination we may be more inclined to do something impulsive and radical.  With most of us locked up in our homes right now in quarantine, this could be a challenge!  And Jupiter and Pluto are still in tight conjunction for […]
