Jupiter/Neptune conjunction in Pisces. This week we have the exact conjunction of Jupiter to Neptune, culminating on April 12th.  You can do a deep dive into this conjunction by following this link. We can get the most out of this crescendo of Piscean magic and illumination (which will remain in effect for the rest of the  month) by placing our attention on areas of our life where creative inspiration and spiritual exploration can take hold. Meditation retreats. Music and art. Ecstatic dance. Anything we do that invites Divinity into our lives is highlighted now.

The conjunction of Jupiter to Neptune doesn’t always bring fairy dust and magic – there is also potential for illusion and confusion.  There is a longing under this conjunction for positivity and optimism, and this can be a gorgeous influence to help us create a beautiful future. However, we may not be thinking as clearly as we would like to, so I advise precautionary care with the mundane details to be sure we have our feet on the ground when making decisions.

Mars enters Pisces April 14th. Following the Piscean theme described above, the planet of war enters the the most mutable of the mutable signs. Mutability is flexible and adaptable, but also lacks focus and direction which is not the happiest place for Mars. In Pisces, Mars can inspire greater compassion and a yearning for spiritual connection, but the Piscean confusion can become a force that dissolves our motivation and even our physical energy.

Mars will be in Pisces until it enters Aries on May 24th. During this time Mars will conjoin Neptune and Jupiter, which may exacerbate the fuzziness of planetary energies. […]

Astrological news this week: Tread carefully with Mars/Saturn abnd Mercury/Pluto

Astrological update for the week of April 4-11, 2022

Before I talk about the hard stuff I’d like to add a preface: These potentially challenging cycles are fast moving, lasting only a few days, and interpersed are lovely periods of harmony and camaraderie that will help to relieve the stress of what I’m about to reveal. 😃

Mars conjunct Saturn April 4. The week begins with a challenging conjunction from Mars to Saturn in the Saturn-ruled sign of Aquarius. The idea that Mars and Saturn are malefic in their nature is something that I am always arguing against.  If it weren’t for Mars we wouldn’t get out of bed in the morning.  Mars is the energy that motivates and excites us – it provides inspiration as well as desire.  When that inspiration and desire is thwarted, Mars can become angry and that can easily escalate into the rage that Mars is known for.  Saturn provides a container and structure for our lives.  It inspires us to make commitments and to set goals for the future.  Saturn’s lessons become difficult when we attempt to ignore the need for rules and structure – then we may get the proverbial bonk on the head from the Celestial Taskmaster.

This conjunction is intensified because it squares the Taurus Moon which may cause some disruption to our equilibrium. The conjunction is also in a strong square aspect to the Lunar Nodes of Fate, suggesting that there may be a reckoning from the past that must be confronted before the path to the future is clear. With any planetary aspect to the nodes there may not be a specific event that occurs but it’s a good idea to keep our eyes open in the early part […]

Astrological news this week: Aries burns through Jupiter/Neptune fog at the New Moon

Astrological update for March 28 – April 4, 2022

Ukrainian artist Valeriy Kot

This week as we build towards the conjunction of Jupiter and Neptune that peaks on April 12th (catch up here if you missed my post on the Jupiter/Neptune conjunction) we have a fiery New Moon with three planets plus Chiron all in Aries.

Aries is the first sign of the zodiac – the sign of initiation, blazing a new trail with courage and independence. At its best, Aries approaches life with the innocence of a young child, without fear or hesitation. Aries is ruled by Mars, the planet of action – one of my Aries friends says her motto is “Shoot first, aim later” which very nicely embodies the direct connection in Aries between the desire and action.  The Aries New Moon occurs just after the spring Equinox and it is the New Moon to which Easter is tied. There is a sense of renewal after a long winter (sorry Southern Hemisphere readers!) and an anticipation of what will come next.

The chart for the New Moon shows a tight conjunction from both Mercury and Chiron to the Sun and Moon. The presence of Mercury, planet of the mind, intensifies the focus on all matters of communication.  (Mercury combust Rant: The idea that Mercury conjunct, or combust, the Sun is bad is a widespread concept of well-meaning astrologers whose focus is more theoretical than practical – who have read lots of material but not studied . I have read all kinds of terrible things about Mercury combust the Sun in natal charts – the native is mentally ill, the native is exceptionally selfish… none of these things actually play out in real world […]

A look ahead to April’s Jupiter/Neptune conjunction

art by Peter Rodulfo

Being an astrologer is a bit like being a meteorologist. You can observe the trends, but you can’t predict the details, at least not with reliable accuracy.

The past few years have been interesting to say the least.  We had the conjunction of Saturn (hardship) and Pluto (death and regeneration) in 2020, which astrologers warned could bring financial and other hardships. With Neptune in Pisces, sign of its modern rulership and associated with viruses, there was an indication of a mysterious illness. But the kind of pandemic of the wide-ranging proportions which we have experienced came as a surprise to all but the most tuned-in virologists.

In 2021 we had the challenging square from Saturn to Uranus, planet of radical change and liberation. Civil unrest, rebellion against Covid control measures…all of this was relatively predictable.

In 2022 we have a conjunction from Jupiter to Neptune on April 12.  Conjunctions from Jupiter to Neptune occur about every twelve years, but what makes this one relatively unique is that Jupiter and Neptune are connected through their co-rulership of Pisces. Jupiter is the traditional ruler of Pisces (with Neptune being the modern ruler), and Jupiter and Neptune share an expansive view of the world, and a desire to bring true meaning into our lives.  However, Jupiter’s focus is more on the expansion of the Self through a pursuit of meaning and Truth where the Neptunian desire to submerge the Self requires an annihilation of individuality for the sake of Universal consciousness and creative inspiration.  It is here where trouble can sometimes occur.

Pisces is represented by two fish swimming in opposite directions, tied by a cord. The cord is the only thing keeping the fish from separating entirely […]
