Sunday Poetry from Mary Oliver for Jupiter square Chiron

Wild Geese
You do not have to be good.
You do not have to walk on your knees
for a hundred miles through the desert repenting.
You only have to let the soft animal of your body
love what it loves.
Tell me about despair, yours, and I will tell you mine.
Meanwhile the world goes on.
Meanwhile the sun and the clear pebbles of the rain
are moving across the landscapes,
over the prairies and the deep trees,
the mountains and the rivers.
Meanwhile the wild geese, high in the clean blue air,
are heading home again.
Whoever you are, no matter how lonely,
the world offers itself to your imagination,
calls to you like the wild geese, harsh and exciting
over and over announcing your place
in the family of things.

The exact alignment between Jupiter and Chiron culminates today, marking a time of challenge for anyone who carries an ancient wound of the heart or the body. Jupiter is associated with abundance and opportunity, and these are certainly present under this transit, but the work of healing is not always an easy task. First the wound must become known – any scab or bandaging we have layered over the wound must be removed to bring the damaged area into the light. Then the healing begins.
A harmonious planetary aspect between Venus and Neptune today offers a great gift – it helps to soften the process and facilitate a sense of peace and enhance creativity. Like the wild geese, we have an opportunity now to free our hearts and soar over the natural world, with greater healing and wisdom. ❤️
