Jupiter turns direct

Astrological update for the week of September 7-14, 2020

This week we hit the peak of the retrograde season: With Mars turning retrograde on September 9th we will have seven planets retrograde, a ridiculous number!  So in this video I’ll be discussing this, and the fact that after the 12th when Jupiter turns direct the number of retrogrades starts to diminish and we start moving towards something a little more normal.  (You may want to catch up with this article about the year of retrogrades if you’d like to learn more.).  And then of course there’s a day by day review of the week to help you with your planning.

(There is a transcript below the video, but I do encourage you to watch because there are visual aids that help to make everything clearer and more understandable. )

Hey everybody, my name is Lynn Hayes. Welcome back to my channel where every week I give you all the astrological information that you need to have a great week. In today’s video, I’ll be talking about the astrology for the week of September 7 through the 14th 2020.

I’d like to start out with an update on the retrogrades. If you’ve been following this, you will already know but for those of you who might be new, we have an exceptional number of planets that are retrograde in the sky right now. Now what that means is that they appear to move backwards from our perspective here on Earth. Obviously, planets don’t actually orbit backwards, but sometimes from our perspective, they appeared to be turning in the sky, too. traveling backwards and then they appear […]

New Moon in Capricorn, December 24 2011

The Sun entered Capricorn on December 22nd, unlocking an irritating aspect between Jupiter (expansion) and Uranus (radical change). The Sun harmonizes with Jupiter which promotes harmony and self-confidence, but the Sun squares Uranus which can be frustrating as we come face to face with our limitations. As with any potentially challenging planetary event, just breathe and pay attention to the signals from the heart. Transits of the Sun last only a day or two, but they can open up the consciousness to receive important information from the spirit, especially on the 23rd when the Sun sextiles Chiron and increases our receptivity to that information.

All of this leads up to the Capricorn New Moon on December 24th. This New Moon is not an eclipse but it is a powerful event nonetheless because of the planetary aspects involved. Capricorn is the sign of achievement and mastery in the world, and the Capricorn New Moon is the perfect time to set goals and aspirations for the New Year. A trine from Jupiter to the Sun/Moon conjunction that forms the New Moon will help to facilitate our ability to think large and create a powerful and wonderful vision for the new year. The Jupiter/Chiron sextile can help us to heal and work through patterns that hold us back from achieving success.

The New Moon is a little more than 5 degrees from a conjunction to Pluto, intensifying the New Moon and forcing us to face up to something that is important for us to know but which we may have been struggling to keep repressed. In order to truly move forward in our lives we must remove the obstacles that stand in our way, and Pluto is the perfect ally for this task.

Jupiter is stationary at the New Moon and will […]

Jupiter Turns Direct Today!

Jupiter changes direction today, moving forward again after several months of retrograde travel.  When planets change direction they slow down to a crawl and their influence becomes more powerful than ever.
Jupiter’s influence is all about good luck and good fortune, as well as confidence and our potential for growth in all areas.  There is a tendency towards generosity but also of indulgence.  Jupiter is in Aquarius now, where it has been aligned with Chiron and Neptune since the early part of 2009.  In Aquarius, Jupiter is even more idealistic than usual, and this year Jupiter has been working overtime to promote ideals of fairness and social justice under the Aquarius banner.  That battle has brought up a lot of chinks in the social fabric, with the pressure of Chiron to resolve unhealed wounds, and the insistence of Neptune to go beyond that which is practical.
Jupiter will catch up to Chiron and Neptune in November and the three planets will travel tightly together again until the conjunction peaks once again in February.  These three turned retrograde within a day of each other at the end of May, causing us to look back and do the work of healing the past that has been required.  With Jupiter moving forward again we will be able to move forward once again and put the benefits of this work into action.

Ride the Jupiter/Pluto Wave!

If you’ve been feeling like you’re treading water this summer, or going one step backwards for every two steps forwards, you’re not alone.  Four traditional planets plus Chiron are retrograde now, and while this isn’t as many as the astonishing six planets retrograde that we had last summer, it’s still a significant number.  This will change next week when Jupiter and Pluto both turn direct (move forward again) on the 8th.

When the planets are moving retrograde they inspire/force us to go back over territory we have already been through, consolidating and reinforcing our evolution.  This is a frustrating but necessary part of the process so we might as well work with it!  Pluto’s job is to clear away anything in our life that no longer serves us or that weakens us, and Jupiter’s job is to create expansion and give us a sense of meaning in our lives.  Jupiter and Pluto are not in aspect to each other so they are not engaged in this project together, but the influence of each of them, separately, is powerful right now because they have both stalled as they prepare to turn.

Elsa has a good plan to maximize the benefits of Jupiter and Pluto’s change of direction next week:

“I was talking to a pal over the weekend and I told her I was going to consciously and dramatically shift my focus so as to change my life when Pluto turned direct.

I went on to outline my ideas which abstract. In fact they were primarily emotions but I knew as I expressed them that an actual cohesive plan and the commitment to go with it would follow and sure enough these things are emerging now.

I am going to do this like the ball […]
