Mars conjunct South Node

Gemini New Moon June 13, 2018: Marriage of Mind and Heart

Gemini New MoonArt by Lucy CampbellThe New Moon in Gemini on June 13th calls on us to we have a unique opportunity to create change and become more adaptable to new ideas and new ways of living our life; to learn the inner strength that an increase in flexibility can offer us.  Gemini is a shapeshifter and easily modifies obstacles and helps to activate the mind to embrace experiences that change us.  It encourages us to shift the way we perceive our own lives through experiencing our lives through the perceptions of others.

Still, the Mind and Heart are inextricably woven together in this New Moon. Mercury, ruler of Gemini, is the master of the mind, the intellect, and the processing of messages.  Mercury has just moved into Cancer, the sign of the Moon – emotional, intuitive, sensitive. The New Moon itself brings a shift in our emotional space from the stability of Taurus into the sparkling liveliness of Gemini.

This New Moon includes a conjunction of Mars to the south lunar node, signifying a release of something from the past.  If we allow ourselves to introduce greater fluidity into our emotions and feeling nature, that release will be facilitated and the awakening that we experience will be that much more magical.

The New Moon favors new adventures, so you can take advantage of this time by starting something new.  Plant a seed now and it will grow!  Gemini most particularly favors matters of the intellect, but also anything that will help us to adapt and change to new surroundings or experiences.

This Virgo Full Moon is a karmic trigger

Virgo Full MoonThe Full Moon on March 5 contains plenty of planetary punch!

The Sun is in Pisces now, opposite the Virgo Moon.  The Pisces/Virgo polarity involves a rebalancing of our need to attend to the details of our ordinary life (Virgo) with the longing of the soul to transcend details and experience a divine flow (Pisces).   The Moon itself reflects the changing urges of the soul, and in Virgo there is strong pressure to pay attention to the details that give our lives order.

At the Full Moon both the Sun and Moon interact with Chiron (opening up old wounds and precipitating their release), Saturn (creating a sense of isolation in our personal development), Uranus (opening a window for us to see new possibilities) and Pluto (intensifying the entire experience and offering great rewards if we confront our demons head-on).

Mars aligns with the Lunar South Node at the Full Moon, potentially triggering something to be released from the past.  Try to remember to pay close attention to events that occur on this day, as they may be rooted in an old karmic experience that you brought in with you that can be released now.

Relationships could be problematic under a conjunction of Venus (relating) to Uranus (rebellion), activating the Uranus/Pluto square as it prepares to culminate for the very last time.  This is a time to go your own way and speak with your own voice – anything less will result in trouble.  Still – with the Virgo Moon calling for temperance, balance and moderation will still be necessary.

Full Moons typically carry a strong energetic power, but this one is particularly strong.  It’s a time to release the past (Mars/South Node), take stock of the details of the present (Virgo), communicate our […]

The astrology of the Oslo bombing

Oslo bombing astrologyOn Friday July 22nd at 3:26 pm local time, a bomb ripped through government building in Oslo.  This attack was followed by the murder of 87 people at a Labor Party youth camp not far away.

The chart for Norway originates in its independence from Sweden on June 7, 1905 at 11:00 am local time in Oslo.  The astrology for the day of the bombings is rather startling.  Mars was sitting on the South Node last week and astrologer Martin Davis wrote on his Facebook page:

Astrologers: Note that Mars [anger] is coming to conjoin the South Node [past issues] now. This is a difficult combination – often in disaster charts. This conjunction in airy Gemini correlates with angry budget discussions, angry American football contract discussions and the uncovering of newspaper [Gemini] wrong doings. It’s on the natal Mars of any July 4th US chart. Buckle up when driving.

As we now know the US chart wasn’t affected (except by the angry budget discussions part) but the bombing in Oslo occurred when the conjunction of transiting Mars and the South Node was exactly conjunct Pluto in the Norway national chart.  At the same time, transiting Chiron was exactly conjunct the South Node in the Norway chart.

The young man who committed this horrific crime, Anders Breivik, was born February 13, 1979 (time unknown).  His Sun is conjunct Mars and Mercury in the idealistic sign of Aquarius.  Aquarius is often concerned with ideas of Utopia.  Uranus is square to those Aquarius planets, giving him a big does of Aquarian/Uranian Utopia and the need for revolutionary activity.  His Virgo Moon conjoins Saturn suggesting that he is accustomed to working alone.

Supporting this theme of the “Loner” is the singleton Venus in the […]
