Mars Opposite Pluto

Sunday Poetry: Sweet Darkness

This is a very personal poem for me right now. I’m in the midst of some intense planetary alignments involving progressed Mars and Pluto (geeky astrological details below) which I have been observing with some trepidation. Would I get in an accident? Set fire to my house? Blow up all of my relationships? But I forgot that Mars is all about the purification of the ego through desire. Connecting with the higher aspect of our own selves to see what it is that our soul is desiring. The questions began to change. How do I want to spend my time? What will bring me the most joy in service to humanity? How can I be the best friend, partner, adviser while still walking a path that is mine alone?

Then I found this beautiful poem from David Whyte. It’s not the typical kind of inspiration I try to bring to these pages on Sunday but perhaps it will speak to you as well. ❤️❤️❤️

Sweet Darkness
When your eyes are tired
the world is tired also.
When your vision has gone,
no part of the world can find you.

Time to go into the dark
where the night has eyes
to recognize its own.
There you can be sure
you are not beyond love.
The dark will be your home
tonight.

The night will give you a horizon
further than you can see.
You must learn one thing.
The world was made to be free in.
Give up all the other worlds
except the one to which you belong.

Sometimes it takes darkness and the sweet
confinement of your aloneness
to learn
anything or anyone
that does not bring you alive
is too small for you.

Weekend update: June 5, 2021 – Tension on Saturday, peaceful ease on Sunday

art by Krystleyez

I’ve been talking all week about the potentially challenging aspect between Mars and Pluto, and today is the day!  The exact opposition occurs today at 3:45 pm EDT (go back and read yesterday’s post about Mars and Pluto if you missed it).  Pluto is a bit like Mars’s daddy, and just imagine a toddler in a tantrum and you’ll have an idea of what can occur today.  The Moon is in Aries now and since Aries is ruled by Mars the Mars energy is amplified even more.

To complicate matters further, Mars is in Cancer where it finds difficulty expressing needs and desires in a clean and simple fashion.  Watch for potential emotional land mines here, especially when the Moon sets off the opposition after around 4 pm EDT.  That would be a good time to take a walk!  These energies can be felt physically so anything you can do to burn off the excess fire would be useful.

Once the Moon shifts into Taurus early Sunday morning, just before 2 am EDT, these intensities will begin to calm down.  Taurus seeks peace and equanimity and the Moon interacts harmoniously with Jupiter and Venus throughout Sunday morning (EDT) to enhance feelings of well-being and greater integrity.  Taking some time on Sunday to recharge and rest will really help us to rebalance if you experienced any difficulty on Saturday. Have a great weekend! ❤️

Aries, Mars and Pluto – what is the connection?

Art by Evolvana on Deviant Art

With the Moon now in Aries, ruled by Mars (planet of aggression and assertiveness), and with Mars about to oppose Pluto, the Lord of the Divine Will, the next few days could bring a great deal of Mars-y energy to the forefront of our consciousness.  Mars is all about expressing and asserting our Will; under its influence we may feel more impulsive and more easily irritated.  When Mars is opposite Pluto in the sky, all of that energy of desire and need may be thwarted in some way, either from outside of us or from inside.  We may need to face some difficult truths, or perhaps give up on a dream or ideal.  Pluto in many ways represents the power of Fate, or what I like to call the Will of the higher self – the divine voice from the soul that guides us past our personal desires towards greater understanding and ultimate fulfillment.

With all of these energies swirling about, I thought it would be a good time to explore the idea of Pluto as modern ruler of Aries.

Each of the signs are traditionally ruled by a planet – beginning with the closest body to Earth, the Moon, ruling Cancer at the Summer Solstice and the next one, the Sun, ruling Leo, the other planetary bodies rule the succeeding signs.  So Mercury rules Gemini and Virgo, Venus rules Taurus and Libra, Mars rules Aries and Scorpio, Jupiter rules Pisces and Sagittarius, and Saturn, the furthest from Earth, rules Aquarius and Capricorn at the Winter Solstice.  Planets in the signs which they rule are said to be happiest and most effective in those signs.

But then we have outer planets and […]

6.1.21 – Healing waters of the Pisces Moon today

art by Amanda Clark

With the Moon having just entered dreamy Pisces, and conjunct Jupiter this morning, the potential for expansion and idealistic optimism is unlimited.  Jupiter is after all the traditional ruler of Pisces and helps with the process of releasing limitations and negativity.  Today is a wonderful day for anything creative, to imagine and plan with an abundant perspective.  Meanwhile, the energies are building for a harmonious sextile from the Gemini Sun to Chiron in Aries to facilitate healing and understanding.  The Chironic process of healing old wounds opens the door to enhanced wisdom and a desire to help others as well.

Meanwhile, all week we have an opposition (stressful aspect) building between Mars and Pluto.  This aspect won’t culminate until June 5th, but the energies are aligned now and will continue to intensify throughout the week.  Mars represents the Will and desire on the level of the individual, and Pluto represents the Will of the higher self – the constant pressure from the soul to grow and evolve.  When our individual Will is aligned with this higher goal, the power of creation is infinite!  But until then, the intensity of Mars and Pluto in a stressful aspect can bring out both the best and the worst in us.  Watch for power struggles and try to do what you can to express that Mars in constructive ways without letting it build up into a volcanic eruption. 😃❤️😃

The astrology chart and impact of Rush Limbaugh

Rush Limbaugh died yesterday at the age of 70.  Arguably one of the right wing’s strongest influences, he dominated the airwaves of conservative media for over 30 years.

Limbaugh’s chart reveals a cocktail of hidden rage and trauma.  With the Sun in Capricorn, he had a strong will to succeed and make his mark, but his Sun was in the 12th house of the hidden and the subconscious, and it was in a challenging square to Neptune, the modern planet which is associated with the 12th house.  It’s often said that 12th house Sun people prefer to be hidden, but many politicians and other people of fame have 12th house Suns.  However, these individuals tend not to crave the limelight but simply endure it for the sake of their work such as Tony Blair, George W Bush, and Jodie Foster.  Perhaps this is why Limbaugh chose the radio format rather than television.

Limbaugh’s Moon was in Pisces – another Neptune/12th house correspondence, but here we have the emotional sensitivity of the Moon in the most sensitive of all signs.  In Pisces the Moon tends to lack good boundaries and can easily become overwhelmed.  Under its traditional Jupiter rulership, Pisces seeks escapism and the safety of theology, and Jupiter in Limbaugh’s chart is also in Pisces which amplifies the effect of Pisces in the chart.  We would normally see these Pisces influences as demonstrating great empathy and depth of feeling, and we will never know if this was true for Rush Limbaugh – if it was, he kept it well hidden. Pisces can be easily deceived and can be somewhat of a shapeshifter and unreliable.  Limbaugh was well known to be a fabricator of tall tales […]
