Mars opposite Uranus

Astrological update for the week of November 15, 2021: An eclipse and an energetic crescendo!

artist unknown

Fasten your seatbelts, friends – this week we have a lunar eclipse in Taurus and an argument between the aggression of Mars, the warrior, and the radical influence of Uranus, the rebel.

The eclipse is a partial one and less powerful astrologically because the lunar nodes are in a different sign, an “out of sign” conjunction.  It’s the conjunction from the lunar nodes of fate, marking the gateways from past to future, that makes a lunation an eclipse and an out of sign conjunction is weaker and has less effect.  But what will make this eclipse a stronger influence is the fact that it is, according to NASA,  the longest of the century – lasting for three and a half hours.  The midpoint of the eclipse occurs at the exact time of the lunation (the opposition between Sun and Moon) which occurs at 3:57 am EST on Friday November 19th.

I will feature a more in-depth article about the eclipse in the next few days, but it’s something to consider when planning out your week.

In addition, if you read last week’s forecast you may remember that Mercury and Mars activated the square from Saturn to Uranus that is the story of 2021: Control vs Liberation.  Society vs Independence.  Mars is an active force, and when it triggers a planetary combination it can serve as a force for change that is more powerful than its influence is normally when acting solo.  Last week Mars squared Saturn, and this week it opposes Uranus.  We can expect more rebellion and perhaps some reckless behavior this week, but there is also an energetic factor with Uranus that can awaken us to new realms of possibilities which may have never considered before.  These […]

7.5.21 – Release of stuck energy with the Sun sextile Uranus

Over the past few days we’ve had a powerful compression of planets in fixed signs conflicting with each other.  Saturn square Uranus of course, the story of 2021, but Mars in Leo has been involved in that dance as well which has inflamed and activated any tension.  There is a force now for change – the release of the past for the sake of the new – under Uranus which is conflicting with Saturn’s tendency to hold things back and delay until the timing is right.  Over the weekend the Taurus Moon entered the fray, conjoining Uranus for a general sense of disruption and squaring Saturn and Mars.  Planets in fixed signs don’t adapt well to conflict and there is often a tension which has to eventually burst.

Today we begin to release the pressure cooker of this drama in fixed signs!  The sensitive Cancer Sun harmonizes in a sextile to Uranus and activates new ideas and facilitates easing into a different way of feeling your way through your world.  This is a subtle influence compared with the bombs we’ve been dodging over the past week, but if we pay attention we will see the glimmer of light through the clouds that shows the way forward. ❤️

Planetary news this week! Mars in Scorpio, Mercury direct, and more

There’s a lot to unpack this week, and some of these will need their own blog posts.  Here’s an overview to help you prepare for the week!

Mars enters Scorpio on November 19th, and for a few weeks (until January 3rd) Mars will be roaring in its own sign.  Mars actually rules two signs: Scorpio and Aries, both of which are fiery signs of passion and adventure.  Scorpio’s fire is in the realm of water – deep and intense emotions which take us into the very core of our being.  Expect these next six weeks or so to be times of passion and fury, highly energized, and times when the Truth becomes critical and secrets are revealed.

We also have a stationary Neptune period, since Neptune is preparing to turn direct on November 27th.  When any planet is preparing to change direction its motion slows down in anticipation of the turn, but when that planet is a slow mover like Neptune the stationary effect lasts a long time as we receive the energies of that planet like a laser beam.  Neptune’s laser drives us into a longing for a connection to soul, and we process that longing in different ways.  Too many hot toddies perhaps, or a Netflix bingewatch like I did yesterday – or, on a higher level, spending some time in meditation or walking in the woods.  A heavy Neptune influence can also affect our physical energy and dampen the immune system, so take extra care over the next few weeks.

Mercury, having been retrograde for the past three weeks,  turns direct on November 20th.  Many have reported that this retrograde period was more difficult than some others, as I predicted due to the fact that Mercury is […]

This New Moon in Cancer, June 2014

Cancer New Moon 2014The New Moon in Cancer takes place at 4:08 am on June 27th – the beginning of a new lunar cycle that takes us into a journey of exploration into the ways in which we connect with the people around us.

The sign Cancer brings us in touch with our family roots, but “family” can be defined in many different ways.  Most narrowly, “family” is defined as a group of related individuals living in a household together.  But family is widely defined as “a group of people sharing a common ancestor” – the family of humanity.  So the concern now is yes – our loved ones and those with whom we share a familial bond.  But also connections to our community, our cultural group, our spiritual family – all of these are important under the Cancer New Moon which seeks comfort and security through emotional connections with others.

The balance of nurturing and being cared for oneself is important under the Cancerian influence.  I have long thought of Ceres as being a “higher octave” planet of the Moon – where the Moon provides solace and comfort for the personality and the body, Ceres provides nourishment for our incarnation and relationship to the Earth herself.

Because of the emotionality of Cancer, relationships are crucial to the Cancerian New Moon.  Venus (relating, affection) has just moved into Gemini on the 23rd, and for the next few weeks communication will be the key to unlocking our interpersonal relationships.  It may be that new people will come into our life and introduce new energies and relationship.

Mars (aggression) is opposite Uranus (radical behavior) right now, and this  aspect is embedded in the chart for the New Moon in Cancer. The […]
