Astrological news this week: Mars in Pisces and stationary Pluto

Astrological update for the week of April 18-25, 2022

art by Sangsoo Jeong

Mars in Pisces.

As I wrote in last week’s update, Mars entered Pisces on April 14th just before the Libra Full Moon on April 16th. That was a highly potent Full Moon, with the Sun and Moon both in a square aspect to powerful Pluto. Unfortunately it did not lead to a peaceful Easter weekend, with three mass shootings in the US, riots in Sweden and Jerusalem, and the bombing of the wonderful World Central Kitchen in Kharkiv Ukraine.

Astrology cannot prevent global disaster and war, but knowing where there might be land mines can help us in our own small ways to promote peace and healing. Mars will be in Pisces until May 24th, and when Mars is in Pisces all of that aggression tends to be driven into the underground of the psyche. In Pisces, the sign of the artist and the mystic, Mars can be compassionate and fueled by creativity and a yearning for spiritual connection. But the drive and motivation of Mars doesn’t do well when subsumed by the passivity of Pisces and it will take more effort and conscious intention to express and assert ourselves where necessary.

Repeating what I wrote last week, during this time Mars will conjoin Neptune and Jupiter, which may exacerbate the fuzziness of planetary energies. We can ameliorate this somewhat by enhancing our own physical energy through physical activity – always an excellent way to stimulate the chi and activate our intellectual energy as well as physical. But in the end we will just have to be patient and wait for the Piscean clouds to lift, utilizing this […]

Astrological update for the week of December 27 2021: A New Year and a New Moon

This week we have a new month, a new year, and a Capricorn New Moon – an abundance of fresh new energies to help sweep away the cobwebs and help us to have a fresh start.  No matter how well my life is going I always love that feeling that each morning is a new day and a new opportunity to awaken in a different way.

If you missed my 2022 forecast you can catch up here. Spoiler alert: We are not out of the woods yet. 😃  Meanwhile though, this week Jupiter enters Pisces on December 28th/29th which will give us a push into the dreamy optimism of Jupiter traveling through its own sign. Jupiter was already in Pisces for part of 2021 and this is its last vacation before entering Aries in May 2022 when the energies will become more forceful and dedicated towards self-preservation rather than the communal justice that Jupiter seeks in Pisces.

Venus has been within range of a conjunction to Pluto for the past few weeks and it will finally begin to separate after this week.  If you’ve been experiencing difficulty in relationships of all kinds we can blame this aspect between the planet of connection (Venus) and the planet of destruction (Pluto).  Still, Venus is retrograde for another few weeks and we are looking back over the past to see where repairs can be made in problematic areas.

Finally, the New Moon in Capricorn takes place on January 2nd – a new beginning in the creation of structures (Capricorn) to serve our new reality. I suppose technically reality won’t change much between December 31 and January 2, but this is such an excellent opportunity to facilitate a new resolve and a […]

4.29.21 – Infusion of creative inspiration with Mercury sextile Neptune

art by Norman Free

A harmonious sextile from Mercury to Neptune today can help soften hard edges and enhance imagination to come up with creative solutions to any difficulties we may be experiencing.  Mercury is in Taurus where we tend to seek peaceful solutions that require as little change as possible, offering comfort and the security of abundance in all things.  The harmonious sextile to Neptune, the planet of inspiration and creative flow, helps to get Taurean Mercury unstuck and adds a dose of fairy dust to encourage and inspire.  This aspect culminates late in the evening EDT/early morning April 30 GMT, but continues building all day.

Meanwhile, the Sagittarius Moon helps to keep the expansion process rolling along, pushing the boundaries of what we cling to out of fear and urging us beyond our comfort zones into big thoughts and dreams.  The Moon is active today, transiting its own South Node of the past to facilitate a breakthrough early in the day.  This is the perfect day to take 15 minutes out of your busy schedule to allow your mind to wander and your inner voice to speak.    ❤️

4.28.21 – Expansive awakenings under Sagittarius and Neptune

art by Anry

The Moon moves from Scorpio into Sagittarius today following the peak of Scorpionic intensity at yesterday’s Full Moon. This shift from Scorpio into Sagittarius takes us from the deep intensity of Scorpio into the optimistic expansive hope of Sagittarius. Pluto is stationary of course, so there is a layer of heat and power that underlies all other planetary alignments. But there is a deep breath of fresh air with the Moon in a new sign, and a lift of perspective to help the imagination and a broadening of our view.

With no planetary alignments today we can take a deep breath and enjoy this moment to relax and let the dust settle.  A change of perspective with the Sagittarius Moon can help us to see our lives through a different lens, one which grants us a more balanced view and the potential for greater understanding.  Meanwhile a harmonious aspect from Mercury in stable Taurus to magical, mystical Neptune in Pisces is building now to culminate tomorrow (Thursday), enhancing intuition and opening the doors of perception to awaken that divine inspiration.

1.1.21. Happy new year to my dear readers!

art by Deborah Gregg

Did we just magically turn a page and erase 2020 altogether?  Will 2021 bring life back to normal?  There is definitely a change in the air as we move from a heavy Capricornian year of restriction and hardship (2020) to a year (2021) dominated by the sign of Aquarius and a square aspect between the two rulers of Aquarius, Saturn and Uranus.  Aquarius takes a broader and more impersonal view of life and makes it easier to see a new way through the fog of change.

Today, a lovely sextile from Mercury in Capricorn to Neptune in Pisces is the perfect aspect for crafting your vision of your ideal 2021. Mercury in Capricorn is practical and methodical – very concerned with details and plans and strategies for success.  Neptune in Pisces is the dreamer, always seeing life through rose colored glasses.  When you put these two together in a harmonious interaction we enjoy the best of both: a vivid imagination and intuitive perception combined with the ability to create a practical vision for the year.  If we spend a few minutes today looking forward, we may discover the key to unlock a better tomorrow. ❤️
