Astrological news this week: Surprising adjustments with Mars and Venus square Uranus

Astrological update for the week of March 21, 2022

If you can identify this artist please let me know in the comments! As the week begins the energies of last week’s Equinox are still winding down, forcing adjustments in expectations and laying the groundwork for a new season. The March Equinox occurs when the Sun enters Aries in the tropical system – the first day of spring in the northern hemisphere and the beginning of the zodiacal wheel. Aries is the sign of initiation, of blazing a new trail and forging ahead with courage and confidence, and there is a significant Uranus alignment in the chart of the Equinox.

Uranus is the planet that inspires us to break out of outmoded paradigms and ways of living which no longer fit the current reality, and this week Mars will form a challenging square to Uranus. Mars is in Aquarius right now where the primary motivator is innovation and change but also reason and intelligence, so the added influence of Uranus can help to break down barriers to progress. However, Uranus can inspire Mars to be somewhat reckless so it would be wise to exercise some caution.

Here is what you need to know for the week ahead. (Dates and times are for the Eastern time zone, please adjust for your own locality.)

Monday March 21.  The Moon is newly in Scorpio on Monday, intensifying feelings and evoking a sense of urgency where emotions are concerned. Fortunately a harmonious Mercury/Jupiter aspect culminates in the very early hours on Monday which helps us to find more emotional balance and general good vibes.  Mars builds all day towards a harmonious aspect to Chiron (sextile) to facilitate the flow of natural wisdom and positive energy.

Astrological update for the week of November 15, 2021: An eclipse and an energetic crescendo!

artist unknown

Fasten your seatbelts, friends – this week we have a lunar eclipse in Taurus and an argument between the aggression of Mars, the warrior, and the radical influence of Uranus, the rebel.

The eclipse is a partial one and less powerful astrologically because the lunar nodes are in a different sign, an “out of sign” conjunction.  It’s the conjunction from the lunar nodes of fate, marking the gateways from past to future, that makes a lunation an eclipse and an out of sign conjunction is weaker and has less effect.  But what will make this eclipse a stronger influence is the fact that it is, according to NASA,  the longest of the century – lasting for three and a half hours.  The midpoint of the eclipse occurs at the exact time of the lunation (the opposition between Sun and Moon) which occurs at 3:57 am EST on Friday November 19th.

I will feature a more in-depth article about the eclipse in the next few days, but it’s something to consider when planning out your week.

In addition, if you read last week’s forecast you may remember that Mercury and Mars activated the square from Saturn to Uranus that is the story of 2021: Control vs Liberation.  Society vs Independence.  Mars is an active force, and when it triggers a planetary combination it can serve as a force for change that is more powerful than its influence is normally when acting solo.  Last week Mars squared Saturn, and this week it opposes Uranus.  We can expect more rebellion and perhaps some reckless behavior this week, but there is also an energetic factor with Uranus that can awaken us to new realms of possibilities which may have never considered before.  These […]

4.2.21 – The creative flow continues, energized by the Sagittarius Moon

art by Azot2016 on DeviantArt

The focused creativity and potent spiritual force of today’s sextile from Mercury in Pisces to Pluto begins to wane as the day goes on, but we will likely still experience that enhanced creative flow for much of the day.  The Sagittarius Moon opposes Mars at around 6:40 am EDT, ramping up the fiery energies for a few hours. That would be a good time to go for a run or some kind of vigorous exercise, or if you need a boost to inspire you for a project, that would be the time for it.

Between noon and 3 pm or so EDT,  the Sagittarius Moon squares Neptune in Pisces and the optimism of Sagittarius is amplified by the glamour of Neptune in its own sign of Pisces.  This is a time of enhanced romance, creativity, even spiritual bliss – but not a time of great wisdom and practicality, so if a major decision is required better to wait until Saturday if that is possible.

4.1.21. More positive energy and transcendent insights today

art by Lucy Campbell

A harmonious sextile from Mercury in Pisces to Pluto begins to build today, though it isn’t exact until Friday.  Mercury in Pisces is kind of dreamy and a bit of a woolgatherer, but the partnership with Pluto helps to focus our attention on the things that are most important.  Pluto inspires us to penetrate more deeply in order to find truths which may have been hidden, and the intuition of Mercury in Pisces opens the doorway to expand our awareness and knowledge. Meanwhile,  the Sun sextiles the North Node today and illuminates a clear path forward.

With the Moon making the giant leap from Scorpio’s intensity to the lightness of Sagittarius at 1:29 am EDT, we have access to an expanded sense of optimism and adventure.  On Thursday the Moon interacts harmonious with Chiron for greater healing, with Saturn to help ground those Sagittarian dreams, and with the Sun to just generally create a great deal of positivity.

11.27.20 A day to break out of a routine, and mental agility

flickr

Today we have Mercury (mind) harmonizing in a sextile to Pluto (transformation), and since Mercury is in Scorpio where it easily focuses our attention directly to what is important, the engagement with Pluto’s intensity simply amplifies this power without causing too much difficulty.  But Venus, also in Scorpio, is opposite Uranus in Taurus today.  In Scorpio Venus demands nothing less than truth, a connection with meaning and passion.  No matter where Venus is in your own chart, our connections with others are of supreme importance right now, and all of our values (Venus) are infused with the fiery emotion that Scorpio brings to the table.  Meanwhile Uranus seeks the radical departure from ingrained habits which keep us stuck, and Venus opposing Uranus today can bring some conflict between that which keeps us connected and safe (Venus) and the need to break free and do something radical (Uranus).

These are fast-moving transits and will last only a day or two.  The Moon has just entered Taurus and we are seeking more comfort and more ease, but it will pass over Uranus in the early part of the day (Eastern time, please adjust for your time zone) which potentially can cause some internal disruption that may spill over into our interactions with others.  Today is a good day to try something new, perhaps something small, but interesting enough to break up any stuck energies.
