Astrological news this week: A shift of planetary energies

Astrological update for the week of July 4-11, 2022.

Mars in Taurus. Mars leaves fiery Aries for placid Taurus on July 5th and we will all breathe a collective sigh of relief. Things have been plenty hot with both Mars and Jupiter in Aries, along with Chiron to irritate the tender places in the soul with the hope of fostering healing and opening the heart. Under the influence of Taurus we are able to find our internal balance point and a renewed connection to the earthy things that bring pleasure and relief.

Mars will be in Taurus until August 20, so we have quite a while to enjoy the relaxation that this placement can bring. There are a couple of caveats though: First, it’s tempting with Mars in Taurus to want to smooth over rough edges and ignore danger signals that may arise when our lives are out of balance or confrontation is needed in order to maintain our inner peacefulness. Remember the bull who is peaceful in the pasture until the irritation becomes too great, and then an explosion of rage can ensue. Second, Mars provides motivation and physical energy, and this can be lacking when Mars is in Taurus. We may need to find other ways to motivate ourselves while Mars is in Taurus,

Very active Mercury. Mercury is the planet of adaptability, flexibility, gatherer and dispenser of information, curious and filled with a desire to learn and know things. Mercury opens the mind so all kinds of things can drop in, and encourages movement. Can’t sit still? Blame Mercury. Under Mercury’s influence we need to keep moving, keep learning, keep taking in new experiences in order to learn more about ourselves.

Astrological update for the week of November 15, 2021: An eclipse and an energetic crescendo!

artist unknown

Fasten your seatbelts, friends – this week we have a lunar eclipse in Taurus and an argument between the aggression of Mars, the warrior, and the radical influence of Uranus, the rebel.

The eclipse is a partial one and less powerful astrologically because the lunar nodes are in a different sign, an “out of sign” conjunction.  It’s the conjunction from the lunar nodes of fate, marking the gateways from past to future, that makes a lunation an eclipse and an out of sign conjunction is weaker and has less effect.  But what will make this eclipse a stronger influence is the fact that it is, according to NASA,  the longest of the century – lasting for three and a half hours.  The midpoint of the eclipse occurs at the exact time of the lunation (the opposition between Sun and Moon) which occurs at 3:57 am EST on Friday November 19th.

I will feature a more in-depth article about the eclipse in the next few days, but it’s something to consider when planning out your week.

In addition, if you read last week’s forecast you may remember that Mercury and Mars activated the square from Saturn to Uranus that is the story of 2021: Control vs Liberation.  Society vs Independence.  Mars is an active force, and when it triggers a planetary combination it can serve as a force for change that is more powerful than its influence is normally when acting solo.  Last week Mars squared Saturn, and this week it opposes Uranus.  We can expect more rebellion and perhaps some reckless behavior this week, but there is also an energetic factor with Uranus that can awaken us to new realms of possibilities which may have never considered before.  These […]

5.3.21 – Prepare for an explosion of brainpower today! 🤓

art by Daniela Zekina

The skies are flooded with energies from the mental realm today.  We have a strong square aspect from Mercury in Taurus to Jupiter in Aquarius, a stubborn combination of fixed ideas and the potential for everyone to want to be right.  Watch for arguments and disagreements, as well as a heightened level of conversation generally under that Jupiterian expansion.   The Moon is in Aquarius today, facilitating a rational perspective using the powers of reason.  However, that pesky Mars in Cancer suggests a rumbling of emotionality lurking beneath the surface, ready to emerge at a moment’s notice.

A square from the Sun in Taurus to Saturn in Aquarius could make taking action more difficult for a day or so.  There are a lot of ideas floating about with no real way to implement them.  Later today Mercury will enter its own sign of Gemini which will activate our curiosity and hunger to try new things, adding even more of the Air element into the equation.  When we spend too much time in our minds we can become very ungrounded, especially with these planetary energies today.  Taking some time today to take a few breaths and relax the nervous system is advisable! ❤️

The Virgo New Moon and a choice for the future

Virgo is what we call a mutable sign – it’s the third in a series of signs that begin with the June solstice in Cancer and prepares us for the turning of the next season as we shift into Libra the September equinox.  The dance of the “modalities” as they are called always begins at the entry into a new season with a cardinal sign of action.  The second sign is of the “fixed” nature and teaches endurance and patience.  The last sign before the seasonal shift is “mutable” – these energies enable us to let go and make that transition into the next season as marked by the solstices and the equinoxes.

The Virgo New Moon is not only the passage point to the September equinox, it also marks the end of the first half of the zodiac which focuses primarily on the personal.  In the second half we are more focused on interaction with the outer world.
Virgo teaches us to create order from chaos.  Under the influence of Virgo we learn to manage the details that are required of humans who live in a physical body, such as personal hygiene and the need to work in order to keep food on the table and a roof over our head.  At this Virgo New Moon, a new lunar cycle, we can more easily begin a new organizational routine or exercise/nutrition program to support us in the changes that are coming.
And come they will – we are in the middle of so many different evolutionary changes.  Climate change. Political change.  And not […]
