  8. Amy Klobuchar

And posts written about Donald Trump.

Amy Klobuchar is now third in the CNN poll of Democratic candidates in New Hampshire.  Unlike the other candidates, Klobuchar doesn’t really have a “hook.”  Bernie is Bernie.  Warren “has a plan for that.”  Biden is “Uncle Joe.”  Yang offers Universal Income, and Buttigieg is “Mayor Pete.”  Ms. Klobuchar doesn’t seem to have a hook like this, other than she is running as a moderate centrist.

We are fortunate to have a birth certificate time for Ms. Klobuchar (thank you Astro.com!) so that we can create an accurate birth chart.  From this we can see that she was born under a New Moon, with the Sun and Moon conjunct in Gemini.  New Moon people are changemakers – they were born at the beginning of a new lunar phase and they are ready to wipe the slate clean.  We saw this with Queen Victoria, another politician with the New Moon in Gemini who single handedly erased the shame of the loss of the American colonies and presided over the greatest expansion of Empire the world had ever seen.

I’m not saying that Ms. Klobuchar has that kind of potential, but the enthusiasm and electricity of the New Moon personality is not to be denied.  The double Gemini influence carries a sharp intellect and consistent good humor, but also there can be a tendency towards the superficial and a changeability that […]

Donald J. Trump and the progressed New Moon

Political posts, especially on the subject of the current president, can generate a lot of controversy.  As always I have tried to be as neutral as possible and focus on the astrology.  Please do the same in the comments.

Donald Trump is going through a tough time right now.  Impeachment inquiry, staff changes – it appears as though his teflon presidency is facing some bumps in the road and this is coming at a time when he is particularly astrologically sensitive, with transiting Saturn, the planet of tests and challenges, facing off in a square against his natal Chiron (emotional wounds).

Things will not get easier for him next year when both Saturn and Pluto (destruction and regeneration) hit his natal Saturn by opposition in January and February.  His Venus (relationships) is involved as well since it conjoins his natal Saturn, and his fragile alliances and partnerships (Venus) will be tested.  However, he will also have Jupiter (opportunity) and Pluto (empowerment) harmonizing with his Midheaven (career and public life) which could serve to empower him despite the challenges coming from outside.

Right now, at this exact moment, there is a New Moon in his progressed chart.  Just like a New Moon in the sky, a progressed New Moon occurs when the Sun and Moon align in the progressed chart, the natal chart which evolves through time as a forecasting tool.  Progressed New Moons occur every 29 years or so and are times of shedding the past and beginning something new – they are significant times of change and evolution.

The last time Trump experienced a Progressed New Moon was in Leo back in 1990. This coincides with the time of the acquisition and renovation of the Atlantic City Taj Mahal – the greatest casino ever built in the […]

Happy Birthday USA 2018 edition

Like human beings, nations and entities also have astrological charts and a look at the planetary cycles affecting nations can tell us a great deal about what is in store.  Personal request from me: Political posts can generate nastiness.  Please keep all comments productive and astrological.

Pluto

Geeky astrological detail:  I use the Sibley chart for the US and here’s why.)  One of the most critical astrological events coming up for the United States is the return of Pluto to its placement in the natal chart for the country, something we call the “Pluto Return.”  Pluto returns are very rare since they happen only every 248 years and very few governments last through their Pluto returns, although there are exceptions such as the Roman Empire.   Pluto cycles of all kinds tend to be associated with destruction and regeneration, and I don’t think there is any doubt that we are seeing the unraveling of the American structures of government.  This unraveling began during the economic collapse when Pluto entered Capricorn in 2008, followed by the turmoil of the challenging Uranus/Pluto square between 2010 and 2017 and has affected the global system as a whole, but this Pluto return will be America’s alone.

One interesting fact about Pluto in the US chart is that 1957 was a pivotal point for America’s Pluto (geeky astrological detail: Pluto is retrograde in the US chart and progressed Pluto re-aligned with natal Pluto in 1957).  1957 marked the enactment of the Civil Rights Act which began the transformation (Pluto) of the integration of African Americans into mainstream American society.  (This was also the year that the Soviet Union launched their Sputnik, beginning the space race, and the beginning of the […]

Astrology in my world: The falling away of things I know to be true

Art from Third Eye Tapestries

Astrology gets a bad rap for being unable to reliably predict the future. The fact is, while astrology reveals the underlying order of things, it does not reveal the future.  Through astrology we can know when there is potential for difficulty, but everyone experiences these cycles differently, and they are experienced differently at different times.

As I write this today at the end of November, I have just found out that a brilliant astrologer that I have worked with over the years, Dawn Bodrogi, just died.  In her last news letter she wrote that her mother had recently died just after a New Moon in the progressed chart, and Dawn had a New Moon in the progressed chart at the time of her death.  A client recently also had a New Moon in the progressed chart at the time of death.

When we think of New Moons, death is not the first thing we predict!  A New Moon marks a new beginning – the old way is falling away as the lunar phase wanes to pave the way for a new start at the New Moon.  Often there is a fundamental change at the core of our being, or a move to a new location.

In my own chart, Jupiter (beliefs and meaning) is in a powerful square to Pluto (power and intensity).  This dynamic typically suggests someone who holds on tightly to their belief system, and there is a self-righteous quality to it.  When I have a strong feeling about something, my confidence in that belief never wavers.  98% of the time this confidence is well-placed and serves me well.  But when we are so rigid in our beliefs and what we think […]

Harvey Weinstein – the astrology of sex and power

Flickr

How appropriate that Harvey Weinstein, arguably the most powerful mogul in Hollywood today and perhaps in Hollywood history, was terminated from his leadership position at the Weinstein Company just as Jupiter (leadership) goes into Scorpio (sex and power).

Weinstein is notorious among Hollywood circles for his boorish behavior and sexual harassment allegations that span over decades.  Over the past few days actresses who declined his advances have come forward to tell their Weinstein stories, and presumably there are many more who did not fight in order to save their careers.

The astrology chart of Harvey Weinstein (born March 19, 1952 in Queens NY, time unknown) shows his Sun at 29 degrees Pisces – the very last degree of sensitive and Pisces, bleeding into assertive and dominant Aries.  The 29th degree is sometimes called the “anaretic” degree and is considered a critical placement that shows a significant lesson to be learned. In medieval astrology the “anareta” was a planet of destruction and considered to be dangerous.  While modern astrology doesn’t take these significators literally, the 29th degree indicates a completion of some kind of karma and needs to be taken seriously.

The transition from Pisces to Aries involves the lesson of incorporating the assertive leadership of Aries into the compassion and sensitivity of Pisces, but in some cases one sign will react against the other which is what we see in Weinstein’s behavior. The Sun makes no aspects to any other planets (a “singleton”) suggesting an individual who stands alone and finds it difficult to combine one’s energies with others.  (Brad Pitt is another famous Singleton Sun individual.)

Weinstein has Mars (sexuality and drive) in its own […]
