And a baby was born unto Prince Harry and Meghan Markle and the world celebrated.  I’ve made no secret of my unabashed admiration for Meghan and happiness at her marriage to Prince Harry, and was excited to look at the baby’s astrological chart.

Baby Sussex (as of the time of this posting a name had still not yet chosen) has a pretty exceptional chart.  Born just after the New Moon in Taurus, he has the Sun at 15 degrees Taurus which is a power point in the zodiacal reference, being halfway between the summer and winter solstices.  These midpoints of the fixed signs (Taurus, Leo, Aquarius and Scorpio) have long been known to be significant and have been referenced in art and literature from ancient times (the Bull, the Lion, the Man, the Eagle) including the Book of Revelation.  He is a Double Taurus, with the Sun is rising in the chart just after the Taurus ascendant.  When the Sun and ascendant are in the same sign, the outward persona (ascendant) and the inner Self (Sun) are well integrated and there may be less work to do on a personality level than someone who has those elements in very different signs.

Taurus desires comfort and peace; it is well known for its stubborn nature, but those fixed qualities also bestow an ability to persevere in the face of great obstacles.  Its main driver is towards equanimity and the ease and well-being offered through the accumulation of wealth and assets.

This chart also has a strong Gemini component in the first house of personal identity with the Moon at the very first degree of Gemini.  Gemini follows Taurus and reacts […]

The Astrology of Prince George Alexander Louis of Cambridge

Prince William and Kate Middleton, Duchess of Cambridge, welcomed their baby boy into the world on July 22nd at 4:24 pm BST.  Will and Kate have been a fresh air for the British monarchy which has been plagued by scandal and crisis for an entire generation.

The baby, who does not yet have a name, was born while the Sun was still in Cancer (at 29 degrees, 58 minutes).  You can’t get much closer to a Leo Sun without being there, and the symbology of the last degree is an important one.  From a practical perspective, someone whose Sun sign is at the last degree of a sign is truly on the cusp – the qualities of the next sign begin to bleed into the previous one.  So the influence of Cancer  (sensitivity, family-oriented) is waning, and there is the beginnings of Leo (energetic, powerful) beginning to peek in.

The 29th degree is associated with endings – it is the completion of a cycle.  Yesterday I wrote that a royal baby born with the Sun at the 29th degree could see the end of the monarchy in his lifetime.  However, endings also spell new beginnings.  Nothing ends without something new taking its place.

The royal baby’s chart shows not only the Sun at the last degree – the Moon too is at very nearly the end (28 degrees) of Capricorn in a nearly exact Full Moon formation (the Full Moon occurs when the Moon is opposite the Sun from our perspective on Earth).  The Full Moon personality type is a culmination – there is a peak of energy, a wisdom that has accumulated over previous lifetimes that can be fully expressed.

Scorpio is rising in the chart – the […]

The new British heir: an astrological view!

Will & KateUpdate:  The heir is born!  4:24 pm GMT at the Full Moon!  Scorpio rising with an 8th house Sun of Power.  I will be writing more tomorrow morning so stay tuned.

The world has been watching Prince William and Kate Middleton as they wait for the birth of their first child.  Kate went into labor this morning and it is likely that the new heir to the British throne will be born today, just after the Full Moon in Capricorn.

If the baby is born before 4 pm GMT she or he (the gender of the baby is still not known) will have the Sun at the last degree of Cancer.  When the Sun is at the last degree of a sign there is a sense of transition, the ending of one phase of learning and completion of a cycle.  A royal child with the Sun in this degree could see the end of the monarchy during their lifetime.

If the baby is born after 4 pm GMT the Sun will be in Leo, the sign of Kings and Royalty.  That would be a fitting placement for the child of Will and Kate, who seem to have revived the love of the British people for their monarchy after a long period of personal scandal and economic woes.  The Sun at 0 degrees Leo would signify a new phase of the royal line and a new beginning for the nation.

The Moon is also on the cusp today – a birth before 6 pm GMT will bestow a Moon at the last degree of Capricorn, and after 6 pm the Moon will be in Aquarius.  A Capricorn Moon would signify someone who is determined and somewhat conservative – the Aquarius Moon […]
