Saturn conjunct Moon

A Bountiful Sagittarius Full Moon on June 9 2017

The next Full Moon on June 9th brings with it an explosion of expansiveness and confidence.  The Moon will have reached its fullness in the sign of Sagittarius, urging us to reach for the stars and beyond what we imagine to be possible.  And Jupiter, the planetary ruler of Sagittarius, harmonizes with both the Sun and Moon, amplifying the expansive energies of this lunar experience.

Astrology teaches that there is darkness and light in all things.  The expansion and confidence of Jupiter’s influence lead us to unparalleled positivity and achievement, but if you have ever filled a balloon with too much air you will know what can happen when we expand beyond a reasonable amount.  Economists are well aware that too much expansive growth can lead to undesirable results, and we have seen this time after time with stock market bubbles, real estate bubbles, etc.

Fortunately this Full Moon contains a strong Saturn influence to help keep us tethered to the ground as we allow our spirits to soar to new lunar heights.  Saturn can be restrictive; its influence can feel discouraging and even sometimes depressing when it is connected to the Moon.  This could lead to feelings of despair or failure, but if you utilize Saturn’s practicality and mindfulness at this time it can be a wonderful ally, ensuring that your dreams and ideals hatched and fertilized at the Sagittarius Full Moon are grounded in the real world with lasting permanence.

When Henry David Thoreau said “Go forth confidently in the direction of your dreams” he must have been under the Sagittarius Full Moon!

George Clooney’s Worst Year

I love George Clooney, he seems like a truly genuine person with real ethics and political awareness. Plus, he has a great sense of humor. So I was sad to read that the past twelve months have been the worst year of his life. Planetary cycles can have a huge impact on us, so I thought I’d look into George’s chart and see what whether he was undergoing some evolutionary pressure from the planets.

George’s Sun is in Taurus, the sign of earthly delights, stability, security. Taureans crave a peaceful and serene environment and typically do not like change, but because his Sun is conjunct Mercury (the messenger god and ruler of communication and information), there is a part of him that will also crave a variety of experiences. His Moon, representing our need for emotional security, is in Capricorn and it is conjunct Saturn, the planet that rules Capricorn. This is what we astrologers call a “double whammy,” indicating that the Saturn/Capricorn principle of hard work and solitude is fused with his emotional needs. Saturn/Moon people need lots of alone time–often in their childhood they can be extremely lonely and unable to connect, and in later years this becomes a need for solitude in order to refresh one’s sense of safety.

Mars (personal drive and will) is in Leo in George’s chart, and this is where we find his prankster nature and love of practical jokes for which he is well known. Venus (relating to others) is in Aries, showing that George likes to take the lead in relationships. He in fact has been quoted as saying that he likes to be the one that pursues […]
