Saturn sextile Chiron

Astrological update for the week of November 22-29, 2021: Finding balance

Saturn square Uranus. There is really only one storm happening right now and that is the final square alignment between Saturn and Uranus, The Story of 2021 (™Lynn Hayes).  Saturn demands that we obey the rules, and Uranus inspires us to break out of rules that don’t support our growth as authentic individuals.  These two can be powerful allies – Uranus and Saturn are connected through their joint rulership of Aquarius where the rules and structures of Saturn are enhanced and modernized through the creative radicalization of Uranus.  But we haven’t seen that in real life this year.  Instead there has been chaos and violent disputes (Uranus) over control measures (Saturn) to attempt to hold the Coronavirus at bay.

The final phase of this alignment occurs in mid-December, after which the two planets will separate from the exact square aspect until September through November 2022 when they will resume their battles for one final episode (stay tuned for my analysis of the astrology of 2022, coming in a few weeks). The lesson here is to find the balance point between blindly following the rules of others (Saturn) and blindly rebellion against any control, even if it is for the highest good (Uranus).

Saturn sextile Chiron.  A fortunate subtheme of 2021 has been the gentle sextile between Saturn and Chiron, helping to soften the hard edges and facilitate the moving through challenges with greater ease.  These more subtle alignments are often buried under the drama of the more intense and challenging influences, but they are operating nonetheless to relieve some of the pressure.  This combination began in February 2021 and culminates this week.  Focusing on an intention to heal some of the challenges in our lives can help us to better […]

2.9.21. The meaning of Saturn sextile Chiron: The shape of healing

art by Aegis Illustration

The first of three exact alignments between Saturn in Aquarius and Chiron in Aries takes place today. Chiron is the planet of wounding and healing, and it is instrumental in bridging the human experience between Saturn’s focus on the mundane and practical to Uranus, the planet which is symbolized by the pouring of wisdom from the stars to the earth.  For this reason, the symbolism of this harmonious sextile between Saturn and Chiron, healing the human personality, can help us to make that leap to the transformation of Saturn squaring Uranus which forces a radical departure from that which is known and expected.

The energies are building for the New Moon on the 11th – the Moon conjoins Pluto today at the end of Capricorn, forcing the abandonment of something we thought was important before moving into the Brand Newness of the Aquarius New Moon stellium (six planetary bodies in Aquarius!). Under the influence of Saturn sextile Chiron we can more easily heal something broken within us. Right now all it takes is acknowledging that weakness and the intention to heal, and Saturn and Chiron will do the rest.

The astrology of 2021: A new way forward

A quick look back to 2020

I believe that the only way we can understand the future is to understand how we arrived at the present, and for this we need to look back.  Pluto, the planet of destruction and regeneration, has been in the earthy sign of Capricorn since 2008 when it began compressing power structures around the world, concentrating wealth in the hands of the few, and building the top/down kind of societal construction for which Capricorn is famed.  Capricorn teaches mastery of the material world and has little patience with frivolity or illusions, and we have all had to come to terms with a more practical approach to the way we live, especially when Saturn entered Capricorn in December of 2018.  Saturn and Pluto came within a few degrees of a conjunction in the spring and summer of 2019 and the compression that would later become 2020 began.

Jupiter joined Saturn and Pluto in Capricorn in December of 2019, and Saturn and Pluto aligned in a conjunction on January 10, 2020. This coincided with a station of Uranus (shock and surprise) as well as a lunar eclipse in Cancer that triggered the Saturn/Pluto conjunction.  In December 2019 I cautioned about the period between January 8th to the 16th as being a potential danger point.  It was at this time that the spread of COVID-19 became evident.  […]
