Scorpio New Moon

Planetary news this week: Eclipses and Scorpio dominate the energetic frequencies

Astrological update for the week of October 23 – November 2

(I will be traveling so next week’s report will be a few days late and is included in this one.)

Scorpio. The big news that will dominate the week is the infusion of Scorpio energies that are emerging right now. On Sunday the Sun and Venus both entered Scorpio, and just after midnight EDT on Tuesday the Moon enters Scorpio just before the solar eclipse at the Scorpio New Moon on October 25, 2022 at 6:48 am EDT. And Mercury will enter Scorpio on October 29th.

Scorpio is associated with intense emotions – the dark feelings such as jealousy and hatred which normally don’t see the light of day.  However, anything which we hide in the darkness never has the opportunity to become transformed.  Scorpio fearlessly plumbs these depths of darkness and supports us in our quest to regain the power that we have lost through self-denial and diminishment.

Each sign reacts to the one before it, and in this shift from Venus-ruled Libra to Mars-ruled Scorpio we leave behind the polite niceties of Libra to dig into the Truth that often hides from the light of day. Scorpio season is followed in late November by Sagittarius, where the intensity is left behind in favor of a sunnier optimism.

Solar eclipse October 25. This Scorpio eclipse follows on the heels of the Aries Full Moon, and with both Aries and Scorpio ruled by Mars (Scorpio’s modern ruler is Pluto but Mars is still very much in charge), it’s no surprise that this is a time of intense warrior energy, dominated by female archetypes. The Sun and Moon are thought to represent the male and female […]

Sunday inspiration for Scorpio Eclipse transformation

The Sun and Moon have reached their conjunction today at the first degree of transformational Scorpio, and over the next few days the energies are building for the solar eclipse at the Scorpio New Moon on Tuesday October 25th. We are fully into Scorpio season now, where we dive fearlessly into the depths of passion and Truth and emerge forever changed.

Unfortunately I have lost the source for this poem and am unable to find it – if you know the writer please let me know!

There’re many stages of transformation in our lives

The strongest are are the ones that can’t be always seen from the outside

These within transformations can sometimes play tricks on our minds by making us think that we’re still standing in the same spaces

But when we keep connecting within and silence daily our mind with meditation or anything that will align us with our higher self

We can then actually see the dance of our soul twirling on the spiral ladder that keeps lifting us.

Looking from the outside can seem like we’re taking the same paths or turning in the same circles

Trust your guidance

You’re constantly being guided towards higher steps

Fear will make you feel like the past scenarios are close by youDon’t let it activate their emotions, they’re past over and so far away from you

Trust that you’re standing in the most beautiful place like you’ve never been before.

Every dark and light that you’ve been through have been weaving a magical dress that you’re wearing right now, in this space where you’re standing

A dress that’s sewed to the night and day

To the moon and sun, the sea and oceans, the sky and stars, […]

Planetary news this week: Saturn direct and the Sun/Venus dance

Astrological update for the week of October 17-23, 2022

art by Carol Drury

Retrograde update. The retrograde forces that dominated August and September continue to fade, and after Saturn turns direct this week there will be three planets traveling in retrograde motion (Jupiter, Neptune, Uranus) as well as Chiron. This may seem like a lot, but this is a more normal number of retrogrades and the forces that pull us back into the past to review and reflect are beginning to lessen.

Saturn station. The challenging square from Saturn to Uranus which came very close to an exact alignment over the past few weeks is also starting to fade, and with it the forces of rebellion and conflict which dominated the story of 2021 will also start to retreat. Saturn, the planet that teaches endurance and the value of discipline and hard work, is stationary in the sky right now as it prepares to change direction. When a planet appears to “station” before a change of direction its influence intensifies, especially if you have sensitive planets between 15 and 20 degrees of the fixed signs (Aquarius, Leo, Scorpio, Taurus). Saturn will barely move between now and mid-November, meaning this wise teacher will dominate the planetary energies.

Saturn periods like this one are good times to focus on the hard things that need to be done, but are not the best times for speculation and over-idealistic thinking.

The Sun/Venus dance from Libra to Scorpio. The Sun and Venus meet in conjunction about every 9-1/2 months: once when Venus appears to be at its closest point to Earth when retrograde, and once (like now) when Venus is at its farthest point when traveling direct.  From our perspective, the Sun appears to […]

Focus the laser of intention at the November Scorpio New SuperMoon

artist unknown

The Scorpio New Moon occurs November 4, 2021, at 5:14 pm EDT (9:14 pm UTC) and is a SuperMoon.  Yes, New Moons can be SuperMoons too!  A SuperMoon (© Richard Nolle) is a New or Full Moon (syzygy) that is at its closest point (perigee) to Earth.  SuperMoons exert a more powerful effect on ocean tides and geocosmic events such as earthquakes and volcanoes, and can also exert a stronger effect on the tides of our own emotions.  That is especially true for people that are more lunar in nature – those of us with placements in Cancer or prominent Moons.

At the Full Moon a SuperMoon appears big and beautiful in the sky, but at the New Moon it is invisible since the Moon is at its darkest point at that time, obscured by the light of the Sun. The New SuperMoon activates the subconscious energies, so there may be a deep and rich fertility in your thoughts and emotional processes at this time, particularly since we are talking about Scorpio here.  Under the Scorpio influence we dive fearlessly into the depths of consciousness and awareness, searching below the superficial for real meaning and absolute Truths.  A Scorpio New Moon asks that we strip away any artifice which keeps us from complete and total emotional honesty.

New Moons are times of new beginnings. and as we enter fully into Scorpio season we are drawn into the darkness of the realm of Truth.  This New Moon is very near the cross-quarter point of 15 degrees Scorpio that marks the true astrological Samhain, the time when the veils between the worlds are at their thinnest. At this time we may be more easily able to […]
