Planetary news this week: Venus in Aries and a Super Pisces New Moon

Astrological update for the week of February 20-27, 2022

(I wrote about today’s New Moon in last week’s edition but it’s worth repeating, especially if you missed it! )

Sun enters Pisces, and the third New SuperMoon in a row. This week brings the Pisces New Moon on February 20 just after the Sun enters Pisces. This is the third New Moon at perigee (closest to Earth) in a row, beginning the season of Pisces and an emergence of heart-opening compassion and the illumination of imagination. With the New Moon at its closest point to Earth, and at the first degree of Pisces, it may be easier to tune into our heart’s desires as we chart our course for the next month. Intentions planted at the New Moon can come to fruition, and the SuperMoon can make these instincts stronger and more clear.

We have had so much Saturn over the past couple of years, with Saturn going through its two rulership signs of Capricorn and Aquarius, but Saturn will soon (March 7) enter Pisces. The melting of the Saturnian structures into the ocean of divine wisdom and creativity in Pisces could create some confusion and will require an effort to maintain balance. What better time to put this into place than this Pisces New Moon by opening the heart to the mystery while keeping our feet fully on the ground. This will require a great deal of intentionality because there is a lack of Earth in the sky right now, and Earth is the element that encourages us to embrace reality and the details of our lives.

Venus in Aries. Venus has entered the sign of her warrior lover Ares, leaving the Piscean misty realms for the battleground […]

Planetary news this week: Planetary stations and Aquarius season begins with a bang

Astrological update for the week of January 16-23, 2023

Retrograde update. This week the last of the retrograde planes change direction, and we will have no planets retrograde until June. When there are no retrograde planets time tends to speed up; without the pull of the retrograde planets to review and re-discover, we tend to find our lives passing without much reflection. We can adjust our own intention to incorporate this reflection into our daily lives though, through ritual and routines which support our inner experience as well as our outer one.

Planetary stations. Mercury turns direct on January 18th, and Uranus turns direct on the 22nd. Both of these planets are stationary in the sky as they prepare to change direction, which means their influence is more intense – especially if they are hitting a sensitive point in your chart and this is especially true of Uranus which has only moved one degree since early December from the station at 15 degrees Taurus, and it won’t move past the 15 degree point until March 16. This is a long time for Uranus to shine its laser beam of electrical charge and instigation for change, especially if you have planets between 10 and 20 degrees of the fixed signs (Taurus, Scorpio, Leo, Aquarius). Personally I have three planets in those signs and I’m feeling it for sure!

A good way to handle this Uranian energy is to use its inspiration for innovation and change in our own lives. What can we do that will take our lives into a completely new direction? Where are we stuck? What changes do we know we need to make but have been resisting? Those fixed signs can make it […]

Planetary news this week: The first Full Moon of the year

Astrological update for the week of January 2-9, 2023

artist unknown

Well folks, we made it to 2023: the year everything will change (see this post for more details if you missed it), and the portal to the door of change will begin at the Aquarius New Moon later in the month. Read on to know more!

Mercury is still retrograde and will not turn direct until later this month. In fact, the conjunction of the Sun to Mercury later this weeks marks the midpoint of that cycle. Mercury represents the mind and the processing of information, and it is in Capricorn right now where all of the details are important. When Mercury appears to be retrograde it is closer to Earth than at other times, and all matters of communication and equipment become more important and require more attention to operate smoothly. Most of you know by now not to let that plant a seed of fear – we can still live our lives with a minimum of worry, but our attention will likely keep us drawn back into something from the past that needs to be re-adjusted or re-paired.

Full Moon in Cancer on January 6th For now will open the portal of emotions and feeling to guide us into the high mental vibration of Aquarius. There is a sense here of emotions conflicting with the mind; Mercury conjoins the Sun (the halfway point of the Mercury Retrograde cycle), favoring the thoughts and ideas of the solar consciousness, and opposes the Moon in an attempt to block and diminish the lunar light of interior wisdom.
