Sun trine Pluto

Astrological news this week: Mars/Neptune and Gemini season

Astrological update for the week of May 16-23, 2022

How did everyone fare during the eclipse Sunday night? I was knocked so off kilter (the eclipse squared my natal Pluto which and a bunch of progressed planets) that I forgot what day it was yesterday! So this forecast is late, but hopefully better late than never as they say.

This week is a bit quieter astrologically, although Mars, planet of action teams up with Neptune, planet of transcendence, in the sign of Pisces (culminating around 2:30 am on Wednesday). At its best this planetary combination can release a torrent of creative energies and unbridled compassion; at its worst, it can bring confusion and the kind of passive aggression that Mars in Pisces is known for. Mars needs to express itself forcefully, and in Pisces that force is watered down and sometimes disappears, so the aggression of Mars can be quite leaky and come out in unexpected places.

The Moon will have moved from Scorpio after the eclipse into Sagittarius which can be a  mixed blessing: Sagittarius is certainly hopeful and optimistic, but if the wrong thing is expanded under the Sagittarius influence it can cause problems. Tread carefully in the evening of the 17th (Tuesday) when the Sagittarius Moon will face off against Mars and Neptune.

On the heels of a powerful eclipse this can be somewhat destabilizing so in the early part of the week we may want to try to avoid open conflict where possible and wait for the fog to clear. It shouldn’t take long for that to happen since the Moon enters Capricorn on the 18th around 8 am which helps to ground and stabilize. Then a harmonious trine […]

The meaning of the pre-Equinox Pisces Full Moon

artist unknown

by Lynn Hayes.  At the Pisces Full Moon the Pisces Moon is opposite the Virgo Sun, requiring us to bring into balance the polarity of these  two opposing astrological signs. Pisces, as Virgo’s opposite, lives in the realm of Spirit and ideals rather than the mundane. Where Virgo is concerned with worldly matters required by humans who live in a physical world, Pisces opens the door to the realms that lie within and beyond the soul and psyche. Where Virgo is practical and teaches us to create order, Pisces longs to transcend reality and ascend into more soulful experiences. Neither is better than the other – the mysticism of Pisces can bring delusion and illusion, and the organization skill of Virgo can lead to a limited perspective where the view of the trees obscures our ability to see the forest.

Under any opposition we must learn to create balance and integration between the polarity of two opposing signs, and this is also true at the Full Moon.  The Pisces Full Moon is all about connecting to Spirit, to the Divine within us, to our imagination and a sense of magic.  However, when the Moon is full in Pisces it opposes the Sun in practical Virgo so there is a necessity to balance that dreaminess with a firm footing in the material world.

The Full Moon is the peak of the waxing phase of the lunar cycle and begins the waning phase of completion, so this is a time of culmination of the dreams and ideals (Pisces) so that we can harvest the seeds that we have sown. Mercury, ruler of the Virgo Sun, is stationary in […]

5.17.21 – Tranquil stability as the Taurus Sun trines Pluto

art by Leesha Hannigan

The Taurus Sun emits the light of stability and power over us Earthlings, and as it completes its passage through Taurus the Sun forms a harmonious trine to Pluto today.  Solar aspects last only a day or two but they can infuse us with positivity and help us to find our own inner core of strength.  Pluto is often feared as a destructive force, but its power of regeneration must not be forgotten!

The Moon will leave sensitive Cancer for vibrant Leo at 8:43 am EDT/12:43 am GMT, adding some much needed fire to the astrological skies and helping us to break through the inertia that stationary Saturn may be causing right now.  Saturn will retrograde on the 23rd and until then it is virtually stationary in the sky, imposing a brake on our desires and will to act.  The purpose of Saturn is to force us to think through the details more carefully and therefore be more successful when that action does take place.  I believe that this understanding can help us to work WITH Saturn without becoming frustrated by his tendency to kibosh the fun. 😀
