Harvey Weinstein – the astrology of sex and power

How appropriate that Harvey Weinstein, arguably the most powerful mogul in Hollywood today and perhaps in Hollywood history, was terminated from his leadership position at the Weinstein Company just as Jupiter (leadership) goes into Scorpio (sex and power).

Weinstein is notorious among Hollywood circles for his boorish behavior and sexual harassment allegations that span over decades.  Over the past few days actresses who declined his advances have come forward to tell their Weinstein stories, and presumably there are many more who did not fight in order to save their careers.

The astrology chart of Harvey Weinstein (born March 19, 1952 in Queens NY, time unknown) shows his Sun at 29 degrees Pisces – the very last degree of sensitive and Pisces, bleeding into assertive and dominant Aries.  The 29th degree is sometimes called the “anaretic” degree and is considered a critical placement that shows a significant lesson to be learned. In medieval astrology the “anareta” was a planet of destruction and considered to be dangerous.  While modern astrology doesn’t take these significators literally, the 29th degree indicates a completion of some kind of karma and needs to be taken seriously.

The transition from Pisces to Aries involves the lesson of incorporating the assertive leadership of Aries into the compassion and sensitivity of Pisces, but in some cases one sign will react against the other which is what we see in Weinstein’s behavior. The Sun makes no aspects to any other planets (a “singleton”) suggesting an individual who stands alone and finds it difficult to combine one’s energies with others.  (Brad Pitt is another famous Singleton Sun individual.)

Weinstein has Mars (sexuality and drive) in its own […]

Updated!! The astrology of Chaz Bono and the Aquarian Age

Chaz Bono astrologyAt the age of 42 Chaz Bono has joined the cast of the television program “Dancing with the Stars” – an event which has caused widespread controversy and brought his recent gender reassignment surgery into the forefront of the news.

Update: Astrotheme has a 12:55 am birth time for Chaz Bono which has been identified as part of the Steinbrecher collection which is highly reliable.  I’ve edited the article to add some information based on this time of birth.

When you start to pay attention you will be amazed at how many newsmakers are in key astrological cycles.  28-29: the Saturn return.  41-42: the Uranus opposition.  So without even looking at Bono’s chart we can see that he is in the middle of a dramatic life cycle, the Uranus opposition, that inspires a radical departure from anything in his life where he is not feeling true to himself.

Chaz Bono was born as a woman named Chastity Sun Bono March 4, 1969 (time unknown) in Los Angeles, California.  His Sun is in Pisces, the sign of the shapeshifter – the one who yearns for peace, tranquility, and beauty.  Pisces is the most mutable of the water signs and like water, it tends to adapt to fit the container  in which it finds itself.   This sometimes makes it more difficult for Pisces Sun people to know with certainty who they really are.

Bono, a former lesbian, says she realized she was gay at puberty and came out to her parents at the age of 18.  I have written about the effect of Uranus in the chart in gender issues, and here we see a tight conjunction of Jupiter […]

The Smartest Guy in the Room

Photo from Enron: The Smartest Guys in the Room

Jeff Skilling is currently on trial for his role in the Enron debacle which brought down an entire company and most of its employees and was likely the major culprit in the California energy crisis of a few years ago. Under Skilling’s leadership, in less than a year Enron’s stock soared and then crashed in a spectacular flame of arrogance and deceit.

Skilling’s story is the age-old story of hubris. David A. Skeel Jr. writes that “the very qualities that make Icaran executives special – self-confidence, visionary insight, and extreme competitiveness – spur them to take misguided and even illegal chances.” This sentence could have been written for Jeff Skilling.

“In part, Jeff Skilling’s influence can be explained by his particular brand of intelligence. When people describe Skilling they don’t just use the word “smart” — they use phrases like “incandescently brilliant” or “the smartest person I ever met.”
Skilling in the late 1980s wasn’t a physically striking man — he was smallish, a little pudgy, and balding — but his mental agility was breathtaking.

He could process information and conceptualize new ideas with blazing speed. He could instantly simplify highly complex issues into a sparkling, compelling image. And he presented his ideas with a certainty that bordered on arrogance and brooked no dissent. He used his brainpower not just to persuade but to intimidate.
Without question, Skilling’s formidable intelligence had a lot to do with turning Enron into a company that was successful — at least for a while.

But he also had qualities that were disastrous for someone running a big company. For all his brilliance, Skilling had dangerous blind spots. His management skills were appalling, […]

Happy Birthday, Brad Pitt!!

Every now and then I get to use astrology for fun, like to peer behind the curtain and find out what in the world is going on with Brad Pitt. Taking up with Angelina Jolie, admittedly probably the most fascinating but unusual woman in the public eye, adopting her children but not getting married, Pitt has had lots of change over the past few years and I wanted to find out why.

Brad Pitt has a Sagittarius Sun and Sagittarius rising – light hearted, generally optimistic, intent on enjoying life and seeking adventure. Sagittarians are hard to pin down, and generally seek a great deal of freedom in their lives. Interestingly, his Sun makes no aspects to any other planet (we say it is “unaspected”), a phenomenon that is fairly rare. Unaspected Sun people tend to operate alone – they may be in relationships with others, but they don’t form attachments easily and often feel isolated. His Sun falls in his first house of personality and identity, showing us that developing his persona and expressing his own reality is his mission. This is someone whose radiance shines best unadulterated by interference from others.

On the other hand, he has four planets in Capricorn, the sign of responsibility, hard work and discipline, including all of the personal planets: Mars, Mercury, Moon and Venus. On the other, he is a “double Sagittarius) (Sun and rising sign) with its associated need for freedom and adventure. Jupiter in his chart, his chart “ruler” since it rules both his Sun and rising sign/ascendant, falls in Aries and squares Mars which it rules. This is a “double whammy” associating the the search for meaning and ones innate faith in life with the god […]
