Transformation and the Gulf oil spill

“Gaia,” by Alex Grey

Much has been written recently comparing the Gulf oil spill to the rumored Hopi prophecy that predicts the seas turning black and causing the death of many living things.  Certainly there is no doubt that the disaster in the Gulf will transform life as we know it as it destroys much of the undersea life in the Gulf of Mexico and surrounding areas.

Daniel Pinchbeck, editor of the online magazine Reality Sandwich, has an interesting article about the oil disaster.  He, like other authors, has written about the sociopathic disregard of the “corporate and financial culture” in the United States (the US chart has Pluto in the second house of money and finance):

Our corporate and financial culture instills a mindset of sociopathic disregard, and the system permits certain psychological profiles to thrive within it: those capable of disassociating their actions from any moral consequences. What should be an extreme liability in a complex and interconnected world shared by a multitude of living beings has become an asset for our corporate, financial, and political masters – the current ruling elite who congregate at events like the annual Bilderberg gathering, who see massive loss of life as “collateral damage” along the way to their next golf game or yachting match.

But then Pinchbeck takes a more spiritualized view of the disaster which I find a compelling viewpoint:

These are aspects of my current view of the world: the faltering of my faith, that horrible presentiment that the forces of disillusion and destruction have already triumphed, that creepy familiar feeling (as if I already experienced this, long ago, on some other lost world, many forgotten splinters of incarnated lifetimes ago) of failure and futility. […]

Uranus in Aries – May 27 2010

The power of the Full Moon in Sagittarius on May 27 contains the movement of the planet Uranus into Aries.  Uranus changes signs every seven years or so, and it will dip its metaphorical toe into Aries and remain at zero degrees of that sign until mid-August when it will retrograde back into Pisces until 2011, at which time it  will begin to face off against Pluto in their exact square confrontation.

Much has been written about the upcoming Uranus/Pluto square, in these pages and elsewhere – when these two planets get together there is a huge force for transformation and radical change.

Uranus is very much at home in Aries: the primal needs of Aries find pure and unfettered expression when Uranus makes its home there.  Uranus is a mental planet that brings focus to our ideas of what will make life better.  Uranus is an idealist; in the ancient myth he stole his children away from their mother Gaia and imprisoned them in Tartarus because they were monsters.  He dislikes messy emotional situations and prefers utopian environments where there is social equality and absolute freedom.

In Aries, Uranus is emancipated from any rules or structures that inhibit its revolutionary new ideas.  Aries is the sign of pure instinct and adventure; it tends to be always in motion, unimpeded by fear or caution.  In the sign of Aries, Uranus is inventive but also impulsive, and tends to shoot first and aim later.   Uranus is known as the planet that can truly “shock and awe,” bringing events that surprise us and change our lives forever, and in Aries its power to bring about sudden reversals is even more pronounced.

Uranus in Aries is filled with ideas for how to make change happen, but lacking respect for Saturnian structure and […]

Times Square bomb suspect 2010: the radicalization of youth

Times Square bomb suspectI have been predicting for some time that the focus as Uranus moves into Aries (at the end of May) will shift from terrorist groups like Al Qaeda to the “lone wolves” who are operating primarily at their own instigation and with their own motives.

When an outer planet changes signs or begins a dance with another planet that stimulates a  shift in the energies around us, there is an eruption into the mass consciousness of thought forms that up until that time were isolated incidents.  So recently we had the case of Andrew Joseph Stack flying his plane into an office building housing the IRS, and the Pentagon shooting by John Patrick Bedell.  Both performing terrorist acts but with no connection to any known terrorist groups.

On Saturday night New York police were alerted to smoke coming out of a Nissan Pathfinder and found a failed bomb inside the car.  On May 3 federal agents arrested Faisal Shahzad, a 30-year old Pakistani man who became a citizen in April of 2009.

Shahzad says that he was trained in bomb making in Waziristan in Pakistan, and the ongoing investigation has uncovered links to several other associates of Shahzad.  However, it still does not appear that this bombing is tied to any organized terrorist organization.

The threat of violence from individual extremists is not limited to extremists from Pakistan or other Muslim countries.  There appears to be a growing number of young Americans who are converting to Islam and pursuing an agenda of extremism and vilence.  Last year seven North Carolina men were indicted for conspiring to wage violent jihad.  The FBI has discovered terrorist plots in Dallas, Detroit and […]

Pakistan Erupts in Violence and the Upcoming Uranus/Pluto Square

An escalating wave of violence struck Pakistan over the past eleven days is a hint of what I believe we will be seeing over the next few years as Uranus and Pluto begin to align in square formation.  This kind of insurgency is gaining a foothold not only in Afghanistan and Iraq, but in Somalia, Pakistan, the Congo, Thailand and, according to Russian news reports, spilling over into central Asia such as Tajikistan.  I’ll be writing more about this later, but when Uranus moves into Aries next June the revolutionary (Uranus) rage (Aries) will become even stronger and will result in more extreme measures to contain it (Pluto).

Pakistan has an intense astrological chart, with five planets in Leo and Mars sitting right at the Midheaven of the chart.  (There are several charts for Pakistan.  Pakistan’s legal independence became official at midnight on August 15, 1947, but it is generally celebrated on August 14th.  However, the oath of office to the first Governor General at 9:30 am, making the new government official.  We typically use the signing of a constitutional document as the birth time, but in the case of Pakistan a Constitution was not signed until 1956.  The independent government of Pakistan therefore began when the oath of office was administered to the new head of that government, August 14, 1947 at 9:30 am.)

I first wrote about Pakistan two years ago when Benazir Bhutto was killed as transiting Pluto formed an exact square to the ascendant and midheaven of the Pakistan chart.  At the time, I wrote “This is just the beginning of the crisis in Pakistan that is likely to begin a series of events that will lead us […]

The upcoming Uranus/Pluto square: A history lesson for a new beginning

Reality Sandwich is a very interesting webzine with a fascinating array of opinions and news, including this essay on the necessity to use the breakdown of the current economic system to recreate something that is more easily adaptable to our future world.  As many of us know Pluto, the planet of death and regeneration, has just entered Capricorn, sign of political and corporate structures, monetary systems, etc.  The breakdown that is occurring now serves a purpose: to eliminate the old systems that are no longer working in order to make way for something that will better serve us and facilitate the continuing evolution of humanity.

Daniel Pinchbeck writes:

While exploring shamanism and non-ordinary states, I discovered the power of intention. According to the artist Ian Lungold, who lectured brilliantly about the Mayan Calendar before his untimely death a few years ago, the Maya believe that your intention is as essential to your ability to navigate reality as your position in time and space. If you don’t know your intention, or if you are operating with the wrong intentions, you are always lost, and can only get more dissolute. …

Over the last decades, the international financial elite manipulated the markets to create obscene rewards for themselves at the expense of poor and middle class people across the world. Using devious derivatives, cunning CDOS, and other trickery, they siphoned off ever-larger portions of the surplus value created by the producers of real goods and services, contriving a debt-based economy that had to fall apart. Their own greed — such a meager, dull intent — has now blown up in their faces, annihilating, in slow motion, the corrupt system built to serve them.

Opportunities such as this one don’t come along […]
