Venus conjunct Chiron

Let your inner light shine on the Leo Full Moon, February 9 2020

Leo Full MoonThe Leo Full Moon (February 9, 2020 at 2:33 am EST) brings an opportunity to shine with the brilliance of our best selves and emerge from the darkness of the conjunction of Saturn to Pluto which weighed down the beginning of the month. The sign of Leo is majestic and creative, always seeking ways to shine and express the uniqueness of the Self, and in this Full Moon the Moon is aided by a trine to Mars in Sagittarius which helps to energize and amplify the fire of Leo to burn away any debris of darkness that may suppress our ability to shine our inner light with love and an open heart.

As in every Full Moon, the Moon here in Leo is opposite the Sun which is in Aquarius., but what makes the Leo Full Moon different is that the Moon is in the sign of the Sun (Leo is ruled by the Sun). So even though we have the opposition, there is also a linkage between the Sun and Moon that unites the conscious self (Sun) with the lunar instincts and emotional power.

Venus (relationships, attraction) has just moved into Aries where it carries a more fiery temperament, and that has amplified the influence of fire in the planetary spheres.  From December and January’s Capricornian influence on duty and responsibility, we are shifting to a more self-oriented focus that emphasizes desire and action over structure and planning.  There is some danger here that all of this fire can result in hasty decisions and actions that fail to take into account the unintended consequences that may result.  Our relationships could be damaged in the crossfire, as shown by a conjunction from Venus to Chiron (wounding and […]

Venus in ascendance: Libra Full Moon and Venus at a standstill

“Moon Mates” by Goldenwolfen

The Full Moon in Libra takes place the evening of April 10th or morning of April 11th, depending on your time zone (6:08 am GMT on April 11th).  This Full Moon is ruled by Venus, the planet of love, harmony, beauty, romance, attraction, and wealth.  Known as the “lesser benefic,” Venus generally bestows blessings of harmonious energies and opens the heart if well aspected.

Venus has been retrograde since March 4th, turning our attention to the past and bringing us in contact with people, events and issues which we may have thought were long past.  Retrograde Venus is important for helping us to realign our relationships with our current selves, but it is not always an easy path.  Venus is stationary in the sky right now as it prepares to turn direct in a few days and we may feel somewhat stuck, unable to move forwards but also not able to let go of the past.

To complicate matters further, Venus is locked in a tight conjunction to Chiron, the planet of wounding and healing.  This combination of planets is superb for growing through circumstances which may have prevented us from opening our hearts in the past – IF we face the demons that are presented to us at this time.  The heart cannot open if it is full of resentment and blame, and Venus/Chiron combinations will bring these to the forefront so that they may be resolved.

At the time of the lunation, the Libra Moon aligns with Jupiter, also in Libra, further amplifying the Libran urge to find balance and harmony through justice and common ground. All Full Moons incorporate a need to find  balance between two polarities, the Sun in one and […]

The breakdown of Kanye West (and a birthtime controversy)

kanye-westKanye West was hospitalized yesterday after an erratic onstage rant that led to his walking offstage and canceling the rest of his tour appearances.

Kanye West (born June 8, 1977, Atlanta Georgia, no confirmed birthtime*) has always been one of the more intriguing figures on the public stage.   I wrote about him back in 2006 after release of his song “Jesus walks” featured him as Jesus and quoted him as saying “saying that he would be a character in a modern bible because he is an inspiration to the culture and is definitely in the history books already.”  But the legend is not only in his mind – he has won 21 Grammy awards and is one of the best selling artists of all time.  He is also a fashion designer of some repute and of course is married to the most Selfied personality of our time: Kim Kardashian.

Here is what I wrote about his chart in 2006:

What kind of astrological forces create an individual with such confidence and tenacity? West is a Gemini, with the Sun closely conjunct Jupiter. Geminis are mercurial creatures, able to slip in and out of personas and wear different masks in different situations. They are curious and thirsty for experience. Jupiter (expansion and opportunity) closely conjuncts his Sun, giving West not only a high degree of confidence/arrogance but also a certain amount of easy luck. His Sun/Jupiter conjunction is opposed by Neptune (see this article about the current Jupiter/Neptune square), opening up his spirit to a high degree of creativity (Neptune), but also posing the danger […]

Venus turns Retrograde and Conjoins Chiron

Venus, traveling through Aquarius, turns retrograde on December 24. When Venus is retrograde we are often forced to pay more attention to our dealing with others and our own sense of connectedness and how well we manage our connections with those around us. At the same time, Venus has been moving into a conjunction with Chiron, the wounded healer. What a perfect time for this to happen as many of us regroup with our families at the holidays!

In Aquarius Venus tends to be less emotional, more concerned with matters of fairness and equality and ensuring that everyone is given fair treatment. Connected to Chiron, however, old wounds and damaged places could erupt in a process that can ultimately be healing for all involved. The key to successfully navigating Chiron events is to pay attention and try not to hide from emotions as they attempt to make themselves known.

During this period watch for there to be greater consideration of others in the public eye as well as in our personal lives. Venus will remain in retrograde motion through February 3, and the conjunction with Chiron will remain in effect for most of the holiday week.
