Venus sextile Neptune

Astrological update for the week of January 3, 2022 – A bit of planetary R&R

art by Lindy Longhurst

I may have neglected to mention last week that yesterday’s Capricorn New Moon was a SuperMoon, and today here on the East Coast of the US we are enjoying the meteorological effects.  We are under a heavy influence of Saturn currently – not only do we have the waning energies of the Saturn-ruled Capricorn New Moon, but six planetary bodies are ruled by Saturn right now: Sun, Venus, Moon and Pluto in Capricorn, and Mercury in Aquarius along with Saturn itself.  Saturn demands accountability and responsibility, so even though Jupiter has entered Pisces and we all want to relax and thing everything will be blissful from now on, it might not be that easy.  In my view the best way to manage these opposing forces is to hope for and visualize the best (Jupiter in Pisces) while preparing for the worst in a disciplined fashion (Saturn).

Here’s your forecast for the week ahead. Dates and times are for the Eastern time zone, please adjust for your locality.

Monday January 3.  The energies of the Capricorn New Moon will be waning for a day or two, so this is a great time to be organized. The Moon will leave Saturn ruled Capricorn at 5:43 pm today and move into Saturn-ruled Aquarius so the six planetary bodies in Capricorn will still be in effect until Wednesday when the Moon enters Pisces.

The Moon is quite busy on Monday as it passes by Venus and Capricorn in the morning and forms a harmonious trine to Ceres in the afternoon.  Structure and functionality are the keywords for today.

Tuesday January 4.  The Aquarius Moon activates the challenging square alignment between Saturn and Uranus (the Story of 2021 as I called […]

Weekend update June 12-13, 2021: The Venus effect, and a mystical Sunday

artist unknown?

Venus is very active all weekend which is a good thing because the energies are building, as they have been for the past few weeks, for the second phase of the challenging square from Saturn to Uranus. Venus governs all dimensions of attraction and pleasure, and even her challenging aspects are not that difficult.  On Saturday Venus, in Cancer where we tend to be more sensitive and emotional in our interactions with others, forms a square aspect to Chiron which can have an effect of bringing out our most noble intentions to create a healing space where there is stress.

Energies are also building on Saturday for a harmonious Venus/Uranus interaction which will help to breathe new life and space into all of our interactions as well as our own sensibilities.  With the Sun square dreamy Neptune on Sunday, we are less focused and the mundane details of life seem to fall away. This may seem confusing or frustrating, but it can also become magical as we begin to see with greater clarity a different reality, one with fewer rules and more of a sense of wonder. Obviously if something needs to be done then it must be, but don’t be surprised if it takes you through a circuitous route in which other experiences are waiting. ❤️

Weekend update May 1, 2021: The wisdom of creative inspiration

from the Star Tarot

This weekend brings an abundance of beautifully unfolding planetary energies to help ground our biggest and most imaginative ideas into a solid foundation.  The Moon is in Capricorn until Sunday afternoon EDT/Sunday night GMT, facilitating practicality and the organization of dreams into reality.  On Saturday there are no exact alignments, enabling the Moon to fulfill its Capricornian mission of structuring of our wishes into plans.  Four planets in Taurus plus the waning Capricorn Moon offers an exceptionally time of grounded Earth energy – perfect for organizing a decluttering project or completing a task which has lingered for some time.

Meanwhile two planetary dynamics are building which will culminate later on Sunday: A harmonious trine from comfort-minded Mercury in Taurus to Pluto, focusing the mind and easing the way into difficult conversations.  This is a great weekend for projects which require mental concentration or to think through a problem which requires a practical focus.  At the same time, a sextile from Venus in Taurus to Neptune encourages the flow of creative imagination as well as enhancing any experience with the bliss of spiritual emergence.  The deep joy that occurs when we are appreciating beautiful music or art, or the rolling waves on the beach, the experience of meditation when we finally let go into that Beta state and are transported into bliss – these are the best of the Venus/Neptune possibilities this weekend.  ❤️

1.23.21 A day of creative inspiration and grounded centering

art by Holly Sierra

Huzzah!!  With the end of the square from Mars (action and aggression)  to Jupiter (expansion and acceleration), the intense cycle of Mars aspecting Jupiter, Saturn and Uranus over the past few weeks is at an end.  I don’t know about you, but I intend to take a nap. 😀

Today we have a beautiful sextile from Venus (beauty and love) to Neptune (creativity and spirituality) which will help us to slip a little more easily out of the constraints of modern life and bring a little magic into our world.  The Aquarius Sun is illuminating ideas of change and new paradigms, and conjoins Saturn to help us to ground and to bring in a little more practicality and organization.  And to top it off, the Gemini Moon facilitates conversation as it harmonizes with all of the Aquarius planets as well as Chiron to help everything make sense.

Sunday Poetry from Mary Oliver for Jupiter square Chiron

Photography by Marianne McCann

Wild Geese

You do not have to be good.
You do not have to walk on your knees
for a hundred miles through the desert repenting.
You only have to let the soft animal of your body
love what it loves.
Tell me about despair, yours, and I will tell you mine.
Meanwhile the world goes on.
Meanwhile the sun and the clear pebbles of the rain
are moving across the landscapes,
over the prairies and the deep trees,
the mountains and the rivers.
Meanwhile the wild geese, high in the clean blue air,
are heading home again.
Whoever you are, no matter how lonely,
the world offers itself to your imagination,
calls to you like the wild geese, harsh and exciting
over and over announcing your place
in the family of things.

–from Dream Work by Mary Oliver, published by Atlantic Monthly Press

The exact alignment between Jupiter and Chiron culminates today, marking a time of challenge for anyone who carries an ancient wound of the heart or the body.  Jupiter is associated with abundance and opportunity, and these are certainly present under this transit, but the work of healing is not always an easy task.  First the wound must become known – any scab or bandaging we have layered over the wound must be removed to bring the damaged area into the light.  Then the healing begins.

A harmonious planetary aspect between Venus and Neptune today offers a great gift – it helps to soften the process and facilitate a sense of peace and enhance creativity.  Like the wild geese, we have an opportunity now to free our hearts and soar over the natural world, with greater healing and wisdom. ❤️
