Astrological forecast for the week of September 27, 2021: Mercury retrograde and retrograde season

DeviantArt

There’s a lot to talk about this week!  Grab a cuppa something and let’s dive in.

Mercury retrograde.  Mercury turns retrograde on September 27th, the day I am writing this, at which point we have  SIX retrograde planets, plus Chiron.  This is not as extreme as last year when every planet (seven) including Venus and Mars was retrograde for many weeks – Pluto, Saturn and Jupiter will all turn direct in October and the undertow of retrograde energies will be on the wane.  But don’t be surprised if this month you find yourself feeling like it’s Groundhog Day all over again and be prepared to be in a near constant review of your life as you prepare for this new future.  Retrograde season has a purpose: it helps us to stay in the flow of life – like the ocean, there is an ebb as well as a flow and sometimes it is in the ebb where we find the most magic.

When Mercury is retrograde communication becomes more critical.  Mercury is closest to the Sun and currently it is locked in a square to Pluto, making communication not only more critical as it stations retrograde and is at a standstill, but in that standstill it is challenged by Pluto’s intense commitment to creative destruction and transformation.  The Truth will come out, and it’s not always pretty or comfortable.  But whenever Pluto is involved, that discomfort and unease virtually always evolves into powerful realizations and growth.

And now…the week ahead.  Days and times are given in EDT, please adjust for your own time zone.

Monday, September 27.  As Mercury turns retrograde the Moon is in Mercury-ruled Gemini.  There is a lot to say, a lot to think, and […]

Weekend update: May 8, 2021 – Do something beautiful 🌹

art by Andreas Stridsberg

This weekend Venus takes center stage, squaring Jupiter Saturday morning EDT/early afternoon GMT, and moving from Taurus into Gemini later on Saturday.  Venus is well known for her guise as goddess of love and beauty, but she also has deeper meanings.  She is associated with our values, including our self-esteem and how deeply we value our own selves, and therefore is important for increasing abundance which is directly tied to self-worth (both are associated with the astrological second house).

The square from Venus to Jupiter on Saturday can suggest too much of a good thing: Venus is still in Taurus where we love to indulge in delicious foods and other pleasures, and Jupiter always acts as a force to expand and grow.  The natural inclination under this influence is to become maybe a bit too comfortable and over-optimistic, but the energies will wane throughout the day and end when Venus enters Gemini 10 pm EDT on Saturday and moves out of the alignment (2 am Sunday morning GMT).

Venus moving from its own sign of Taurus into Gemini shifts the focus from comfort and security (Taurus) to experimentation and curiosity.  Communication and the sharing of information becomes more important in all of our interactions with others, and there is a greater hunger for experiences which teach us ultimately more about ourselves.  This may involve some short distance travel which is ruled by Gemini, and with Mercury already in Gemini, one of its rulership signs, the Gemini influence will continue to intensify, especially with the Sun entering Gemini in a couple of weeks.

Venus will be in Gemini until June 2, 2021.

The planets are quiet on Sunday, with only lunar alignments to shape the […]

5.7.21 – Explore the possibility of fire with the Moon in Aries

art by Jenna Stone

Ever since the Sun left Aries on April 20th, there have been no major planetary bodies in the signs of fire other than Chiron.  This lack of fire energy is associated with lethargy and a lack of motivation or inspiration.  And not only are no planets in fire signs, but the fire planet Mars is in the water sign of Cancer which literally waters down its energies of passion and protection. Fire purifies and burns away the things we have already lost, which can be frightening for some of us and thrilling for others.  But in the natural world, and the astrological one, we need a balance in all things.

Today the Moon moves into Aries, the most fiery of the fire signs – a subtle influence, but if we pay attention we can use that burst of fire to give us a boost.  The sensitive Moon isn’t always that comfortable in Aries – we may find ourselves saying things suddenly and wishing we hadn’t, or feeling easily wounded, especially in the early hours of the morning Saturday/mid-day GMT when the Moon aligns with Chiron.  Meanwhile, a strong square aspect is building between Venus and Jupiter.  While squares are usually a challenge, strong aspects between the two “benefics” can give a lift for a few days and amplify prosperity and abundance.  Our relationships are usually impacted positively by this aspect which culminates on Saturday. ❤️
