Venus square Neptune

5.27.21 – Idealism, fantasy and bliss rule the day with Venus square Neptune

art by Francene Hart

Venus is one of the personal planets, governing the aspect of our personality that values connection with others, our aesthetic tastes, and the things we value.  Neptune is a transformational planet – one of the outer planets that are invisible to the naked eye but nevertheless exert a strong influence on our human lives.  It is often said  that Neptune is the “higher octave” of Venus – where Venus relates to human love and the human experience, Neptune’s role is to assist with the process of transcending beyond the human limitations to an experience of divine bliss and a direct connection with the experience of celestial spirituality.

A square (90 degree) aspect between two planets is a strong one, and therefore can sometimes create trouble by pointing out the cracks and fissures in our experience.  A square from Venus is usually not that difficult to manage (and only lasts a day or so). Here we have Venus in Gemini, desiring conversation and understanding, challenged by Neptune in Pisces. The interaction of Venus to Neptune can open the heart and the creative imagination which feeds the soul but we must also be wary of potential confusion as we slip into expanded consciousness.  The Sagittarius Moon, fresh off the energies of the eclipse, sets off this square in the morning and mid-day EDT /afternoon UTC so that time may be particularly blurry but the fog will soon fade and clarity will return when the Moon moves into Capricorn later tonight. ❤️

12.30.20. A dreamy day to imagine and plan

photographer unknown

The Cancer Moon is no longer opposite the Sun, but the blossoming emotionality of the Full Moon still lingers. Later today (in the wee hours of the morning US time but in daylight in Europe the sensitive Moon will oppose Pluto for additional intensity and square Mars for emotional frustration and irritability.  In the meanwhile, though, a square aspect from Venus (beauty and harmony) to Neptune (imagination, spiritual experience) can blur the boundaries of what we consider the “real world.”  In its place we find creativity, magic, music and art, along with enhanced intuition and psychic receptivity.

This aspect lasts only a day but since it’s the very end of the year, and we are already dreaming ahead to 2021, this is a lovely aspect for re-imagining and creating a plan for times to come.  Under this aspect we tend to see the world through rose colored glasses, making this not a favorable day for making an important decision.  But it’s a beautiful day to create, to imagine, and to infuse our thoughts of the future with inspiration and hope. ❤️

Sunday poetry: A brokenness out of which comes the unbroken

art by Belinda Paton

Venus, planet of beauty and equanimity, has been challenged by a square from Neptune for the past month or so.  This can lead to confusion and an attachment to illusion, but it can also signify the breaking away of ideas and patterns to which we have been holding on tightly.  As we continue to explore new ways of living in the age of Covid-19, with hearts breaking from what is lost, there are cracks in the picture of our lives through which light and new meaning can emerge. Thus, this beautiful poem.

There is a brokenness out of which comes the unbroken,
a shatteredness out of which blooms the unshatterable.
There is a sorrow beyond grief which leads to joy
and a fragility out of whose depths emerges strength.
There is a hollow space too vast for words
through which we pass with each loss,
out of whose darkness we are sanctioned into being.
There is a cry deeper than all sound
whose serrated edges cut the heart as we break open
to the place inside which is unbreakable and whole,
while learning to sing.

Libra Full Moon

Full Moon in LibraThe Libra Full Moon on April 6th balances the individuality and self-motivation of the Aries Sun with the Libran urge for peace and balance. At the Full Moon the conscious solar influence (Aries) is opposite the instinctive lunar and more personal needs (Libra), and like any opposition a balance between the two is required.

The lunar ruler here is Venus, and with Venus in chatty Gemini you can be sure that a conversation will be required. Venus is still in range of the square to Neptune, so things may not be exactly as they seem, and Venus is approaching a square to irritating Mars which suggests that personal conflicts could occur. Mars is the solar ruler in this Full Moon since Mars rules the sign of Aries, and when the lunar ruler is in a hard aspect to the solar ruler in the chart of a Full Moon we know that this is going to be very significant.

The urge of Venus and Libra to find balance and harmony in interpersonal relationships sometimes comes at the cost of our individual needs as represented by Mars and Aries. The urge of Mars and Aries to assert ourselves independently of others often comes at the cost of personal relationships as represented by Venus and Libra. Balancing our own needs (Mars/Aries) with the needs of others (Venus/Libra) is the key to any healthy relationship and this is the theme of this Full Moon.

There is the potential for self-delusion here, not only with the Venus/Neptune square but also with Mercury in Pisces which prefers to take the high road and avoid any kind of confrontation, even when necessary. And Mars is moving into an opposition to Neptune where its aggression […]
