Venus trine Jupiter

Astrological news this week: Post eclipse optimism

Astrological update for the week of November 14-21, 2022

Post-eclipse wrapup.  In my monthly Planetary Illuminations report for November (see the subscription form in the sidebar) I wrote that the total lunar eclipse on November 8th would have two segments: the dark time before the eclipse and the light time after the eclipse. I wrote “Eclipses aren’t inherently dangerous, but they are usually portals through which difficult truths may emerge. The lunar eclipse on November 8th conjoins the North Node of the future, suggesting that any challenges which come up at this time will drive us more easily towards a more enlightened fate. ”

We have entered the post-eclipse phase, with a watery trine to facilitate the flow of feeling and intuition. Over the past few days with the Moon in Cancer this trine became a Grand Trine, an endless circle of emotions, moods and sensibilities but on Monday the Moon enters fiery Leo and all of that feeling and emotion becomes very personal and begins to burn with a brighter flame.

Still, with five planets in water signs working together in harmony, this week has the potential to bring some good fortune and optimism into the mix, along with enhanced creativity and a burst of inspiration. (Jupiter and Neptune in Pisces trine Sun, Mercury, Venus in Scorpio.) With Venus the first planet to move from Scorpio to Sagittarius, we begin to say goodbye to the intensity of Scorpio season and move into the lighter realm of Sagittarius with all of its optimism and positivity.

Astrological news this week: Mars enters Gemini and the Uranus station

Astrological update for the week of August 15-22, 2022

artist unknown

What is the Uranus station? Every planet appears to travel retrograde at some time or another – the outer planets (Uranus, Neptune and Pluto) are retrograde for about half the year. Saturn and Jupiter turn retrograde about once a year. Mars turns retrograde about every two years, Venus about every eighteen months, and Mercury about every three months. Obviously planets don’t really travel retrograde, but geocentric astrology observes the motion of the planets from Earth and we interpret the symbolism of this motion.

These cycles of normal movement alternating with retrogrades are like the ebb and flow of the ocean, and once we learn to let go to the flow of retrograde cycles they feel as natural as standing in the waves. When planets are in their normal orbital speed they are doing business as usual, and when their motion appears to be retrograde they are operating at a more personal level, and sometimes inspiring us to go back to review patterns of the past.

When a planet appears to change direction it will seem to stand still, remaining at the same degree of a sign for a period of days, weeks or sometimes even months. On August 24th, Uranus will turn retrograde at nearly 19 degrees of Taurus and will travel less than a degree until October, meaning the influence of Uranus to awaken and challenge our existing paradigms will be at its most powerful. Uranus has been within a degree of that point since June.

Those of us (me!) who have planets between about 15 and 23 degrees of the fixed signs (Taurus, Scorpio, Leo and Aquarius) will be most affected as Uranus forces us to break […]

Astrological update for the week of August 30, 2021: Taking care of details in the midst of confusion

So many of you have asked for some kind of recording and let’s try it this week.  There is a recording of this update at the end of the post.  Let me know what you think in the comments.

This week we have a lack of the fire element in the planetary energies, and Mars, the fire planet, will oppose watery Neptune.  Fire signifies drive, purification, frustration, motivation – it’s active in nature and energizes the processing of our experiences.  Chiron is in Aries, but since Chiron represents the unhealed wound it activate our wounds in these areas rather than provide the fuel for actualization).  When there are no planetary bodies in fire, the force for change is missing – the air of thought and intellect is present (Libra, Gemini) along with Neptune in Pisces to inspire transcendence and the letting go of fixed ideas, but the motivation is lacking.

This will be especially true in the early part of the week when Mars opposes Neptune. The alignment culminates on Wednesday September 2nd, but its influence will be felt throughout the week.  Mars is in Virgo now, motivating us to examine and order the details of life, and the Neptune factor makes that more difficult.  Neptune is like the Sirens of Homeric myth, calling us with its magic song to leave the ordinary world behind and step into magic.  Beautiful and mystical, but not very practical and therefore antithetic to Virgo Mars this week.

I recommend that we all be very careful when making decisions under this influence.  Neptune casts a glamour that can make the unrealistic look very attractive, and with the Virgo New Moon approaching on September 6th, we will want to keep our Neptunian eyewear from blurring our […]

Weekend update: June 5, 2021 – Tension on Saturday, peaceful ease on Sunday

art by Krystleyez

I’ve been talking all week about the potentially challenging aspect between Mars and Pluto, and today is the day!  The exact opposition occurs today at 3:45 pm EDT (go back and read yesterday’s post about Mars and Pluto if you missed it).  Pluto is a bit like Mars’s daddy, and just imagine a toddler in a tantrum and you’ll have an idea of what can occur today.  The Moon is in Aries now and since Aries is ruled by Mars the Mars energy is amplified even more.

To complicate matters further, Mars is in Cancer where it finds difficulty expressing needs and desires in a clean and simple fashion.  Watch for potential emotional land mines here, especially when the Moon sets off the opposition after around 4 pm EDT.  That would be a good time to take a walk!  These energies can be felt physically so anything you can do to burn off the excess fire would be useful.

Once the Moon shifts into Taurus early Sunday morning, just before 2 am EDT, these intensities will begin to calm down.  Taurus seeks peace and equanimity and the Moon interacts harmoniously with Jupiter and Venus throughout Sunday morning (EDT) to enhance feelings of well-being and greater integrity.  Taking some time on Sunday to recharge and rest will really help us to rebalance if you experienced any difficulty on Saturday. Have a great weekend! ❤️

6.3.21 – Watch for new possibilities under these harmonious aspects!

A harmonious trine from Venus to Jupiter, the two beneficial planets, is one of the luckiest aspects available to us and we get one today.  Venus trine Jupiter can bring opportunities of all kinds, and is generally harmonious for our relationships, our finances, and our general attitudes. We also have a harmonious trine from the Sun to Saturn which helps to bring stability and a refreshed ability to focus on the things that are important to us so that we can accomplish whatever we set our mind to. Unlike the difficult planetary conditions which affect us without any effort on our part, with any planetary aspect of good fortune we must be awake enough to take advantage of it.  When it’s cold outside we are uncomfortable enough to put on a jacket, but when the temperature is comfortable we don’t really pay attention and it’s the same with planetary weather!

These are both fast moving influences that last only a couple of days and remember in the midst of all of this is the second phase of the challenging square from Saturn to Uranus that is creating conflict and revealing fissures in areas of our lives that require change in order to better meet the pressures of the changing world.  Still, we can take advantage of the lovely planetary weather today to refresh ourselves with a new sense of abundance and possibilities. ❤️
