Astrological forecast for the week of September 27, 2021: Mercury retrograde and retrograde season

DeviantArt

There’s a lot to talk about this week!  Grab a cuppa something and let’s dive in.

Mercury retrograde.  Mercury turns retrograde on September 27th, the day I am writing this, at which point we have  SIX retrograde planets, plus Chiron.  This is not as extreme as last year when every planet (seven) including Venus and Mars was retrograde for many weeks – Pluto, Saturn and Jupiter will all turn direct in October and the undertow of retrograde energies will be on the wane.  But don’t be surprised if this month you find yourself feeling like it’s Groundhog Day all over again and be prepared to be in a near constant review of your life as you prepare for this new future.  Retrograde season has a purpose: it helps us to stay in the flow of life – like the ocean, there is an ebb as well as a flow and sometimes it is in the ebb where we find the most magic.

When Mercury is retrograde communication becomes more critical.  Mercury is closest to the Sun and currently it is locked in a square to Pluto, making communication not only more critical as it stations retrograde and is at a standstill, but in that standstill it is challenged by Pluto’s intense commitment to creative destruction and transformation.  The Truth will come out, and it’s not always pretty or comfortable.  But whenever Pluto is involved, that discomfort and unease virtually always evolves into powerful realizations and growth.

And now…the week ahead.  Days and times are given in EDT, please adjust for your own time zone.

Monday, September 27.  As Mercury turns retrograde the Moon is in Mercury-ruled Gemini.  There is a lot to say, a lot to think, and […]

6.21.21 – A day to open the heart under Venus trine Neptune

It’s not always easy to open the heart, especially if we have been hurt or damaged in some way, or undergoing a transit of Saturn which can lead us easily into negative thinking, or if we lack trust, or if we are fearful of change.  There are many reasons keeping us from being able to soften around the heart and allow love to flow in and out, but there is one good reason to do so:  It’s the very reason that we are incarnated on the Earth.  If like me you have trouble in this area, today is our day under Venus in Cancer in a harmonious trine to Neptune in Pisces.

The Moon is in Cancer today giving us more direct access to our emotions and feelings, and while the Moon will activate the challenging square from Saturn to Uranus early in the day, evoking some unsettled feelings and minor disturbances, the Moon will also activate this beautiful trine from Venus to Neptune later in the day which is the perfect time to attend to the heart and loosen the bonds that have hardened over time.  If it resonates with you, a visualization of a golden light in the heart that emanates to all around us would be a beautiful thing to bring into this day. ❤️

Friends, I am traveling until July 1 and will not be posting every day during that time.  You can follow my adventures on Instagram if you like!

12.5.20 Creative juices flow today with Venus in Scorpio trine Neptune

Photo by Bas van der Poel

The lovely planet Venus, ruler of beauty and connection and the creation of things which bring magic into our lives, harmonizes today with Neptune.  Neptune inspires us to transcend the mundane details of earthly life and explore realms of imagination and exalted experiences.  Both planets are concerned with matters of love: In Venus we find earthly love and relationship, and in Neptune we achieve the higher octave of divine, unconditional love and spiritual bliss.

Mars in Aries is semisextile (30 degrees) to Neptune – an awkward aspect in which the desire for action of Mars is thwarted by Neptune’s mystic spaciness, without a clear path to resolution.  This means that today we may experience difficulty finding an outlet for the desire for spiritual expansion and creative inspiration (Venus/Neptune) but perseverance will help us to find that open door and walk through it.

Planetary news this week, including Scorpio New Moon!

This week begins with a lovely Venus/Neptune trine to open the doors of affection and spiritual magic, and throughout the week we are blessed by a tightening conjunction from Jupiter to Ceres.  Jupiter is expansive and optimistic, and Ceres is all about nurturing the body, mind and spirit through food as well as energetic harmony, so this entire week carries that energy which helps us to pay more attention to how the ecology of our lives helps us to find greater balance and wisdom.

Then we go a little more deeply into Scorpio Season when the Sun enters Scorpio on the 23rd. and is joined by the Moon on the 27th for the Scorpio New Moon. Scorpio season encourages us to delve courageously into the emotional abyss in an adventure of self-discovery and personal empowerment.  In the northern hemisphere Scorpio season is darker and the days are shorter – we are spending more time in the darkness of night than the light of day.  Our innermost fears and feelings become more visible and more true, like the creatures which are invisible during the day but come into view when the darkness falls.

I’ll be writing more about this New Moon and the planetary energies, but like all New Moons this will be a time of new beginning.  Although the exact alignment occurs very late (Eastern time) on the 27th, the energy of a New Moon begins a few days earlier.  If you can find some time for introspection and setting an intention of greater emotional awareness and intuitive power, you will have a good head start.  A conjunction from Pallas (divine wisdom) to Mercury (mind and mental function) suggests there is an opportunity here to deepen our understanding from […]

Taurus New Moon of power and majesty, May 18th

In the astrological pantheon, the zodiac signs are either cardinal (initiation), fixed (control) or mutable (adaptable).  The cardinal signs initiate and inspire action and leadership, the fixed signs ground and intensify, and the mutable signs disseminate and provide a way to move into the next cycle.

Taurus is one of those fixed signs that needs a high level of control and power, and the New Moon in Taurus urges us to ground and find stability in the midst of fluidity.  Under this combination of energies the grounding of the Taurus New Moon will offer a basis from which to experience the flexibility of Mercury retrograde from a more empowered place.  The New Moon takes place just after midnight on the 18th on the East coast of the US and Europe, but late in the evening on the 17th in areas west.

With this Taurus New Moon we move from the Taurus/Scorpio polarity of the Full Moon earlier in the month, to the complete settling into the roots of our experience of the Taurus influence.

Although Taurus is traditionally ruled by Venus and is therefore associated with a love of beauty and the comforts of life in a physical body, I like to think of Taurus as also being ruled by the Earth – Taurus has a fine appreciation for flowers, gardens, and other earthly things. Still, Venus is strong right now – in the maternal and nurturing sign of Cancer where we can nurture our connections with our family and our tribe with greater awareness than ever, and in a harmonious trine to Neptune which helps us to expand our personal affections into deeper compassion and soulful contact.  An opposition from Venus to powerful Pluto intensifies these connections and helps us to […]
