Hey everybody, it’s Lynn Hayes. Welcome back to my channel. If you’re new here, you’re very welcome. Every week I post a video to give you all the astrological information that you need to have a really great week. Let’s get started.

The first thing I’d like to talk about this week is the fact that we have a New Moon coming up in Virgo. You probably know this already, but just to recap, when the Moon is new, astrologically the Sun and the Moon are conjunct in the sky. That means they’re fused. They’re like partners as the Moon, which travels more quickly than the Sun, as the Moon begins to approach the Sun. The sky is actually dark – we don’t see a Moon, so the Moon is invisible to us and we call that the Dark of the Moon. That’s the time when we start letting go, we start shedding old things that we no longer need in order to prepare ourselves for what’s coming at the New Moon. […]

Planetary news this week: It’s time to get practical, with the help of Virgo

If you’ve been wanting to get your house and your life organized, this could be your time. Three planets are in the organizational sign of Virgo (Sun, Mars and Venus) as I write this on August 26, 2019. By the 29th, Mercury will have moved into Virgo for a total of four, and then the Moon joins the party on August 30th for the Virgo New Moon.

Virgo’s realm is the mundane world – the world of daily rituals and routines, helping others, personal hygiene and health, diet and exercise. Virgo is an earth sign, grounded in the practical and the details of life, but it is ruled by Mercury which is an air planet. This rulership by Mercury adds a mental dimension of analysis and discernment to the Virgoan influence – under Virgo it becomes easier to lay out all of the details and come up with a comprehensive plan.

We are moving into the final phase of the challenging square between Jupiter and Neptune which culminates on September 22nd. This planetary influence has been both destabilizing and magical. Because Jupiter and Neptune are natural allies, even the stressful aspects like the square can bring about a swell of creativity and bliss. Jupiter’s expansive and buoyant nature gives a boost to Neptune’s inspiration to expand the inner spiritual heart. New Moon in Virgo, September 9 2018: When dreams collide with reality

Art by Lori Menna. At the Virgo New Moon we are typically granted an opportunity for a new beginning to organize our lives. Virgo is the sign most concerned with creating order out of chaos, and in my world when the Moon is in Virgo I am always inspired to clean and organize my home. Under the influence of Virgo we are suddenly more aware of areas of our lives which need improvement, and we find it easier to make a plan to make that improvement happen.

The New Moon is the beginning of a new lunar cycle – it wipes the slate clean and gives us an opportunity to forge a new beginning. At this time the Sun and Moon are aligned in the same sign, working together to fuse our conscious personality needs (Sun) with our subconscious instincts and emotions (Moon). Under the sign of Virgo, areas of health and well-being are highlighted along with the more obvious focus on organization and cleanliness. New Moons are auspicious times to create a new plan and to plant the seeds of our dreams so that they will soon flower at the Full Moon.

Virgo is a practical Earth sign, and is not overly concerned with fantasy or imagination. Virgo requires a plan and a bulletpoint list rather than a romantic ideal or dream. However this New Moon on September 9th, and remember the energies begin a few days before and linger for a few days afterwards, includes a stressful opposition of the Sun and Moon to Neptune. September 1 2016 solar eclipse: A Fiesta of Virgo

The Virgo New Moon on September 1st is part of a stellium of four planets plus the North Node in Virgo. A lunar event is said to be an eclipse when it occurs close to the lunar nodes, the points at which the Moon crosses the path of the Sun, and this is astrologically significant because the nodes represent the evolutionary movement of the soul from the past (South Node) to the future (North Node). This is why eclipses are often linked to significant events – there is a sense of fate with the nodes that comes through in an eclipse.

Today’s eclipse is an eclipse of the Sun at the New Moon – the solar conscious principle is eclipsed by the lunar instincts. It’s a total eclipse and very significant astrologically since the North Node is just three degrees from the Sun and Moon. However, because the Moon is farther away from the Earth than at other times, this is called an “annular” eclipse rather than a “total” eclipse.

The energy of this eclipse is powerful. First of all, the intense concentration of Virgo precision impels us to seek improvement in all areas of our lives. The details of our human existence are paramount right now and for the next week or so as the eclipse peaks and winds down. Mercury (the mind) has just turned retrograde and is aligned with Jupiter (confidence and optimism) to expand our sense of what is possible.

The lunation (Sun/Moon/Node) is opposite Neptune (spiritual yearning) which aligns with the South Node to add a nostalgic touch and force us to address karmic patterns from the past that are holding us back. […]

Mercury retrograde alert! August 30-September 22, 2016

Planets don’t really move backward, but astrology observes the movement of the planets from our perspective on earth so we sometimes see their apparent motion reversing. We call this “retrograde,” and every planet in the astrological pantheon will reverse its direction now and then. When a planet is retrograde, its influence can become stronger and more pronounced as it retraces its steps over our psyche to better make its point known.

Mercury is the ruler of communication and the mind, and its realm also include communication technology as well as short distance travel. When Mercury is retrograde all of these things become more difficult and don’t always work the way we would like them to. There is a greater tendency to experience communication snafus, equipment breakdowns, travel problems. These periods are typically not ideal for beginning something new because our attention is turned away and we may not be as attentive to details as some ventures require.

Mercury retrogrades on the 29th degree of its own sign of Virgo, just before the Virgo New Moon on September 1st (Eastern time zone). This is a triple whammy of Mercury/Virgo focus on the details of life, which makes it critical right now to be as attentive as possible. Slow down the speed of your life, use your powers of observation to be sure all ducks are lined up precisely in a row before taking action.
