“Moon Mates” by Goldenwolfen

The Full Moon in Libra takes place the evening of April 10th or morning of April 11th, depending on your time zone (6:08 am GMT on April 11th).  This Full Moon is ruled by Venus, the planet of love, harmony, beauty, romance, attraction, and wealth.  Known as the “lesser benefic,” Venus generally bestows blessings of harmonious energies and opens the heart if well aspected.

Venus has been retrograde since March 4th, turning our attention to the past and bringing us in contact with people, events and issues which we may have thought were long past.  Retrograde Venus is important for helping us to realign our relationships with our current selves, but it is not always an easy path.  Venus is stationary in the sky right now as it prepares to turn direct in a few days and we may feel somewhat stuck, unable to move forwards but also not able to let go of the past.

To complicate matters further, Venus is locked in a tight conjunction to Chiron, the planet of wounding and healing.  This combination of planets is superb for growing through circumstances which may have prevented us from opening our hearts in the past – IF we face the demons that are presented to us at this time.  The heart cannot open if it is full of resentment and blame, and Venus/Chiron combinations will bring these to the forefront so that they may be resolved.

At the time of the lunation, the Libra Moon aligns with Jupiter, also in Libra, further amplifying the Libran urge to find balance and harmony through justice and common ground. All Full Moons incorporate a need to find  balance between two polarities, the Sun in one and the Moon in another and this is no exception.  The polarity here is a balance between our own personal needs (Aries) and finding our own equilibrium and inner balance (Libra).

This Full Moon interacts with Uranus, Pluto AND Jupiter, setting off the big Uranus/Pluto cycle once again and fomenting an irrepressible urge to break through barriers (Pluto), throw off any shackles that may bind you (Uranus) and find your own way (Jupiter).  Libra dislikes conflict, but under this influence conflict will be difficult to avoid.  The ideal path is not around any conflict that should come up, but directly through it, maintaining the Aries focus on self-preservation while using the Libran awareness of both sides of every issue to find resolution and healing.
